Steve Haynie Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 I would want that Special cleaned before trying it out. 2 Quote
velorush Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 It would merit at a minimum a call to the doctor's office to get a date on the most recent tetanus shot. 1 1 Quote
bry4321 Posted June 25, 2024 Author Posted June 25, 2024 Is it ok to wipe your Gibson down with a lysol or clorox wipe? 2 Quote

Deep7 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 FYI, I communicated with the seller a few weeks ago. That white streak on the bottom left is in the finish and not a reflection. 1 1 Quote

Jimbilly Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 I have bought way too many crudded up guitars at pawn shops, that's not bad at all for in-person. But yeah, if you're going to list online, at least wipe it off a damp rag before taking photos. 2 Quote
DaveL Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 (edited) that wierd spot looks like it needs something stronger than guitar polish (naptha maybe?) or maybe some meguiars mirror glaze or 3m polish?        Edited June 26, 2024 by DaveL Quote
analogsystem Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 From Captain Beefheart's 10 commandments of guitar playing: 8. Don’t wipe the sweat off your instrument "You need that stink on there. Then you have to get that stink onto your music." 2 3 Quote

This should take it all out of the finish................. been dealing with "Finish Blush" or "Finish Fog" for years on various Yamaha Guitars. Sometimes moisture gets trapped between the top coat and the color coat. You can polish all you want but it's not going to come out because your only rubbing on the top coat, this works by a chemical reaction to get under that top finish and remove it. This is all-natural cleaner/ wax will get rid of it completely. I bought a 1979 Black Hamer "Sunburst" not long after I joined the Hamer Fan Club and it had some of that fogging on the back and this took it all off the guitar. Works great smells good and it won't harm Nitro or Poly finishes. I have used it on all my guitars with great results. Edited June 28, 2024 by ARM OF HAMER 3 1 Quote

Carl.B Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 You can tell how often they change strings by the amount of dust under them. Quote

That can also be from fingernails being worn down, if the guitar is played without a pick. Or maybe even with one. I've seen dealers used guitars for sale with the same pattern of 'dust'. Hasn't anybody ever heard of compressed air?  2 Quote
