Dave Scepter Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Dude, thanks so much for posting this video, it's totally right up my alley... I can watch videos like this continuously on a loop while working on my own... learned a couple of tricks of the trade as well👍🏼 1 Quote
Disturber Posted Sunday at 07:14 PM Posted Sunday at 07:14 PM Interesting. I wonder if it seriously got better, more sustain etc, after that process or if it's just placebo. The top looked better after for sure. Not a fan of the relic thing. 2 Quote

RobB Posted Sunday at 08:23 PM Posted Sunday at 08:23 PM Drop $5k for a new R8. Another $300 on pickups. And yet $2k more for a refin/rework..? All good, I reckon, if Mason is happy with it. Seems to me he could of purchased a Rist or other clone and got exactly what he wanted the first time. 2 1 Quote

Or just buy an Heritage from @santellavision for $1400 and have it in your lap. ETA: I think that's what I paid for it. Can't remember at the moment. Edited Sunday at 08:44 PM by Saul Goodman 3 Quote

It's way more accurate to the real thing than a re-built R8. Better wood too. It delivers the goods, it's a keeper. 2 Quote
RobB Posted Sunday at 09:23 PM Posted Sunday at 09:23 PM (edited) I lucked out and got this in a trade deal. 2019 R0. 8.3lb. Unpotted pickups. It took a long time to find my perfect LP. Edited Monday at 05:23 AM by RobB 8 Quote
velorush Posted Sunday at 09:34 PM Posted Sunday at 09:34 PM This came up in my feed this week but being skeptical I didn't watch it. I clicked on it here and got pulled in. Interesting approach. Reminds me of that guy who was redoing the Faded Les Pauls back in the 90's or 00's. Can't remember the name or really what all he was doing. Thinning the neck was almost too much to bear, but the rest of it was really cool (not a fan of beating up a guitar intentionally, but that's personal preference along with the R8 neck girth). I do say I prefer his relic job on the neck to anything I've seen done on any of the Fender variants where they simply strip off the finish. I like it, but I'll stick with my '19 plant guitar. It's way too good for my level of talent. Kudos to those whose talent / means merit something like this. Quote

Devnor Posted Tuesday at 12:31 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:31 PM That kind of rebuild is not without risk. I had a historic rebuilt/refinished a few years ago. The process screwed up the neck & truss rod anchor. The guy that did the work passed away and I'm stuck with this "guitar". Quote

It would eat at me to have a CS guitar that was bunged-up by some clod. Let Joe fix it. 2 Quote
