Hate it when you sell a guitar to make a deal happen then it falls through. Horrible feeling.

thankfully there was no 3rd party to deal with here...

That WASN't the only option. I never got a chance to make a second offer.:P Instead I only got silence from the seller. Let it lay. I will.

now kids ...

seriously John ... I was really rooting for you on that one ...

All this horse trading is just too stressful for me, I'm concentrating on playing after the dust settles with the stuff I've got going on

Just the shipping horror stories alone are enough to require a mandatory Xanax prescription

I just sold two guitars on ebay ... what a hassle! and just broke even as to what I paid originally

John, sending you a little gift wed. at the latest

Seriously, though, you guys kind of made some assumptions/presumptions about me. Did I ever say that I was actually going to sell the fucking guitar?

This should have been the 1st clue.

It was.

What a fucking puke. I even apologized for thinking he was the weasel he truly is.

AND my ear's still wet from Platzer. :P

....Wrong on soooo many levels..........

I asked for a closeup of the headstock and never heard back-the original auction pic looks like there's something on it-could be finish stuff? I'll never know because there's no way in hell that's worth $8k.

Your ear will be wet for a while, Timmypoo.

I accepted an apology, but will now publicly state that any asshole that gets a guitar for free and takes advantage of the good will of a community of guitar fans in the interest of getting 4 times what a guitar is worth is not worthy of a good beating in my opinion.

Idiotic. The shoe fits.

WOW! And to think my girlfriend had me go all the way to the store for a douchbag tonight when I could've just looked here for a BIG ONE!!

Hey Steve - I just looked closer at the 2 headstock pics and it sure looks odd about 1/3 of the way up on either side of the truss rod cover. That would explain why - in the serial # pic - he doesn't show anything further down.

I had to ask him why he relisted it. His reply:

no scam, cowpie. just so happens I ended the first auction because I decided I really needed it for my very own. As soon as I took it off, some 'watcher' tells me he would have gone as high as 8K in the 11th hour. How can I pass up that possibility? He's probably fucking with me,anyway!

A real piece of work.

I didn't mean to post that first reply to you on the EBay forum. sorry!

You're a class act. Keep dreaming about the $8K.

hey I'd love to have this one.....and offered hefty for its condition.

this is no flawless time capsule from my vantage point.

$8k ?

:P

for that kinda money one could buy a killer 4 digit standard and a few nice bound and crowned '70s sunbursts.

my level of interest is fading fast.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but can any of you HONESTLY say you wouldn't sell a '59 Les Paul for 4x what you paid for it if you got it for $30k?

10 times what you paid for it if you got it for $15k?

20 times what you paid for it if you scored it for $7,500?

Of COURSE, somebody was F'ing with him.

It is a really rare Hamer, but I really can't see it selling for that price - not in that condition, anyway.

cant blame the guy for trying to cash in . , but if it was the end all be all sunburst it wouldve jumped to near his current asking day one... that or that person offering wouldve ponied up the cash immediately.

obviously someone was having a bit of fun at his expense....

there is considerable checking, replaced nut and who knows what else without actually having it in hand.

if it was truly gievn to him.... anything is easy money for it.

I would try to get as much for it as I could. That's true. But I wouldn't be dicking people around like this guy is doing especially when he comes here to collect all the information and then pulls the plug (let's not forget all the BSing) on the auction.
