Where to rock stars get their clothes?

I actually don't know the answer to this question. When my band gigs I wear the requisite black tank or tee and jeans. But, I see so many rock stars wearing cool button down shirts with nice patterns and such. I like some of Steve Vai's shirts (except any Seinfeld pirate ones). So, where do rock stars get their clothing? And, feel free to slag and make fun of this goofy thread.

There was/is a shop on Halsted in Chicago called 99th Floor where I used to get all my cool stage shirts including this one:

Not surprisingly, the shop is smack dab in the middle of Boys Town.

the womens dept.

Today's emo kids certainly buy their pants there.

I'd have to shop in the maternity section ...

I used to play w/ this dude who would rob his moms closet on gig night, she would get so pissed , he'd get beer all over these really expensive blouses and ruin them LOL. This was the 80's, cut to today and he thinks he's Big and Rich, what a trend whore !

What the heck is "emo"? I keep seeing that phrase used to describe clothing on eBay.

I think Vai's shirts may be big name designer shirts in the $700+ range.

Sometimes you just run across cool stuff. Go to a store that sells biker boots and you will see some odd ones that look like Mad Max meets Judas Priest. It also helps if you can have someone make your clothing. Sometimes it is cheaper than you think. A lady who made clothes for Kurt Russell and Sam Elliott in Tombstone made a vest for me for $50.

Depends on the rock star. Zakk Wylde obviouslly does all his shopping at his local Harley dealer and John Mayer seems to frequent the Gap. Some of those guys have stylists that just throw anything and everything at them, lord knows where it comes from. Also with most labels, managment, etc. being in LA, NYC, Nashvegas, etc. you're gonna find more "rock star" stuff to wear in those cities.

One day I'll have a Nudie style suit of my very own, Porter Wagner's the shit!

there's a shop in my neighborhood that does custom motorcycles (that loook like something off the set of Alien) and their own clothes. I buy there, seems to work ok for stage use.

From me. Vintage tour shirts are in, and I've got hundreds...

For bottoms, eBay. Old jeans.

We went with a "Favorite Foods" theme last weekend.

Carlos - Vintage Krispy Kreme t-shirt

Elduave - Cool-assed Wonka Bar t-shirt

Me - Natty Boh t-shirt (beer is like food, right?)

Not sure if our drummer, DA, got the band memo - he wore a vintage Intellivision shirt with the "running man" icon. Very few people got that, but we had a few astute people out there...

Try www.tshirtsthatsuck.com - always a few gems there!

Edited to add that we don't think we're rock stars, by the way.

Salvation Army if you feel like looking around, or Vintage stores if you want don't want to have to dig through crap to get to the good stuff. I have gotten some indcredibly cool stuff from vintage stores. For jeans, I go to eBay for early 70s levis 517s, or "Zeppelin" brand pants, which are designed to give the patented Robert Plant "bulge".

Man, whoever made that website should go back to design classes.

Yeah, I couldn't navigate that website with any success. Maybe they'll "streamline" it a bit.

I've been looking at odd shirts on ebay too. Some good stuff there. I'm not into the vintage band t-shirts really. I already own too many t-shirts.

Yeah, I just checked and love their Betty Paige shirts. May have to get one of those.
