bizzwriter Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Okay, so who's is it???http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Usa-Standard-cus...1QQcmdZViewItemHoly crap!
paults Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I'll be shocked if this auction goes for the entire ten days...
RoyB Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Zero feedbacks, as is all sales are final and $6000. Pass! It's a cool guitar and super early, but man is it worth the risk? Not unless I could see the guitar in person first.
veatch Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Agreed. It may be a great guitar, but i ain't gunna pay $6k to find out... Not that i have $6k to drop on a guitar in the first place...
RoyB Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I've already been bitten in the ass one time by a four digit Standard with bad feedbacks and an as is listing, so not this white boy .
Jason01 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 If you were really serious about this one why not see if the guy would let you come see the guitar and check it out? I mean if you're gonna pony up 6k+ for a guitar then surely you can afford a plane ticket out to check it out in person. Looks like a really cool one and good luck to all those going after it.
Guest pirateflynn Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 ....... I mean if you're gonna pony up 6k+ for a guitar then surely you can afford a plane ticket out to check it out in person. I'm thinking ..... road trip!
srvwannab Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Did it move from 6K to 8K in the last 1/2 hour? Talk about inflation!
kizanski Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Did it move from 6K to 8K in the last 1/2 hour? Talk about inflation!LOLFuel delivery surcharge.
bmenary Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Oh, I love this guy- Starts at 6- Probably got an offer of more so he must have decided he started too low so ups the price 2 more. You never know- but I have a bad feeling about this guy- I wouldn't even think about buying this one sight unseen- I can't swing it---Anyone trying to hook up with him?
RoyB Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Now even higher and check the shipping cost. $45?? The insurance on $8000 would be over $120 alone. Just like the guy I bought my standard from he sent the thing uninsured DOH. Unless someone goes and looks at it I'm gonna bet it goes off with out a bid.
Steve Haynie Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Adding shipping to an $8000 guitar sale is a joke. When that guitar does not sell I bet we get a new member offering that guitar in his first post.
kizanski Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 The pickguard ain't original. That's what I thought. Maybe if it looked as if it fit, it wouldn't stand out so badly. He probably stuch an Explorer guard on there, thinking that it's the same shape.Anyway, that keeps the price down. Imagine if it hadn't been modded - it would be $10,000! LOL
Armitage Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Lousy pix.... if he expects that kind of money, he could take detailed pix... and he didn't. Probably for a reason.
bizzwriter Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Should one this old have original Gibson PAFs on it, or had Danzig switched to Dimarzios by then???
David B Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 The pickguard ain't original.Nope, & looks like shit. But, I still want the guitar.
cmatthes Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Should one this old have original Gibson PAFs on it, or had Danzig switched to Dimarzios by then??? That is a greatly exaggerated point and there's a lot of misinformation on that out there. This one would have almost certainly had DiMarzios.
BTMN Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 $8000, #0020, $8000, #0020, $8000, #0020,....... Anyone wanna buy 12 Deans?
srvwannab Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I've already been bitten in the ass one time by a four digit Standard with bad feedbacks and an as is listing, so not this white boy .I'm sorry you had to go through that- With that said, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching its progress. I have a feeling when it is done you will have brought back to life an incredible guitar- and the guitar, post restoration, will be a very special blend of your vision and craftsmanship with Hamer's vision and craftsmanship. When this happens, your guitar will be completely unique- and I think that is pretty cool.
MCChris Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Should one this old have original Gibson PAFs on it, or had Danzig switched to Dimarzios by then???As far as I know, Glenn Danzig has never used Dimarzios. Not sure what that has to do with this auction, though.
cornjulio Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Okay, so who's is it???http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Usa-Standard-cus...1QQcmdZViewItemThis guy is out of his mind!
serial Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Okay, so who's is it???http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Usa-Standard-cus...1QQcmdZViewItemThis guy is out of his mind!No he's not. That's the earliest Standard I've seen for sale in twenty years (other than mine). While the guard might not be original, $6 OR $8k is not a bad price for this IMHO. I've heard about this one before, don't know if it was from the seller or not. If this was a seller with some feedback, my guess is that it would be snapped up in seconds. I've seen several Standards that were a year or so later than this one sell in this range. A white early Standard is stupid rare (maybe only this one and Lita Ford's) and a bound headstock to boot. If I had the $$...!
