bubs_42 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Missing my Lightburst, so I pulled out my Vintage Hamers cleaned them up rehydrated the humidifiers. So I thought why not, these seem to be the flavor of the week for some. To compare them to the new guitars is like apples to oranges. They aren't better as far as the build quality they just have Vibe, Mojo, JuJu. Thats why I buy them. I just like Old Guitars that I can afford. I repect them and I thank all at the HFC that have passed them along to me. They are in good hands. More Pictures.
flattop Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Nice guitars manHow much for the Darkburst ?
velorush Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Odd, I was on the same tangent yesterday morning (good sun through the window). No 'burst, and not quite as old. I have this photo in my mind and I've tried to stage it a couple of times but haven't gotten there yet. This is where I am so far: This was the first time I've really gotten very deep into the manual settings on our digital camera. I used to do pretty good with a 35mm slr. This camera has some pretty versatile capabilities, it is just going to take me a while to figure out where its capabilities end and those of my software begin (I usually have a gap between the two, which is where this photo ended up). The cool thing about digital is that 1. I can manipulate the image further with software and 2. I don't have to develop the picture to see what I need to change. I'll keep trying - there is a picture to be had here somewhere.
bubs_42 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 I really do not plan on selling any of them. I do intend on buying more unless they find a cure for G.A.S. Hey Velorush, that one still kills me. Good looking Special, I haven't got one of those yet. I'm shooting for an 80 with a medium neck.
BubbaVO Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Bubs & Velo - good work outta ya! those pics are really good. And Bubs...I love that tobacco like finish on your guitars. Awesome.

Really GASSING for a 'burst, but it is going to have to wait until probably next year. Yours are gorgeous. My ('80) Special is definitely a player-grade guitar. I love every wart.-Jeff
atquinn Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Great pics Bubs! Do all Sunbursts have one-piece tops? Have I just been unobservant for years? -Austin
bubs_42 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Great pics Bubs! Do all Sunbursts have one-piece tops? Have I just been unobservant for years? -Austin Yes they do. I like have the flame starts and runs right off the body. Someone here even has one that was put on slanted. A natural one at that! Those GregWinds need to get dirty. Too Clean...
LordOfTheThighs Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Effin Beautiful Guitars! Especially that Standard.

I cant put my 79 standard down and I will never sell it. Went diving teaching master divers how to do stage decompression today. All I could think about on the Deco stop was getting home to learn more tunes. Hopefully I'll get my hands on a couple of 70' Sunbursts to add to my collection soon. Swweet Guitars Bubs!
bubs_42 Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Perfect! I couldn't agree more. After I took that picture I thought to myself "Damn that's one of the best pair of guitars I've seen" IMHO of course.. Well one of our fellow HFC'er has a set better that this with Crowns. We also know of a Very Lucky man that has a TriplePLay. I think I will go bump the Sunburst Thread now.
Feynman Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 That is some primo wood right there. I'd smile every time I looked at them. Sometimes I look at pics of my own guitars while I'm at work. Sometimes I look at pics of my own guitars even when they are right beside me. Mostly I look at yours, though. Man, the HFC sure knows how to feed a guy's GAS.

I'll say it again. GW Neck is my favorite neck pickup.
belgian Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Just Beautiful. Who needs a 2009 Hamer catalogue after those pics ?
NeilZ Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Beautiful guitars and nice work on the photography!
