Feynman Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 So my Mom hands me some money and tells me to go directly to the store for a Monaco III and a stick of butter. I'm grounded, but it might have been worth it. Nothing too fancy - Hot Rod 62 Strat - but...I like it. You know, for now. Someday I may have to accept the fact that I have apparently become a Strat guy.
bubs_42 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Nice choice but that Headstock looks funny...
Peter Graves Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 When Feynman takes the time to take all of these really nice photos, I bet it's not for insurance purposes but that he's thinking of putting it up for sale.
backinit Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Nice guitar, but I am truely perplexed by your relationship with the triple single coil guitar...and the 2 humbucker guitar.
ArnieZ Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I'm really pissed! I wasted a lot of time thinking about whether I offer you my Newport or MonacoIII ArnieZ
murkat Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Shoulda got a tort guard, aaaack! looks supra choice the way it iz
Feynman Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Nice choice but that Headstock looks funny... It does, doesn't it? It's growing on me though. Still seems like a cheap ripoff of the Daytona. Nice guitar, but I am truely perplexed by your relationship with the triple single coil guitar...and the 2 humbucker guitar. If you EVER figure out anything, please let me know. I'm not sure it's figurable-outable though. Shoulda got a tort guard, Banned! I,m really pissed! I wasted a lot of time thinking about whether I offer you my Neweport or MonacoIII ArnieZ Do you know how many times I looked at your photos? BTW, Monaco III woulda been the correct answer. looks supra choice the way it iz A man of exquisite taste I see.
sw686blue Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I second it, it needs (and wants!) a tort guard!
zorrow Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I got inspired and wrote a haiku poem:Pale guitars are cool,As pale women are cool tooBut what's my trip, dude?Well, Strats are perfectErgonomic to the maxSo I think "women"!Feynman says this best:--and this purchase confirms it--We are all Strat guys!
gorch Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I don't like bolt on necks, because I ever fear the screw could get lost while playing and the guitar falls into pieces. Can you imagine?
jerseydrew Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I second it, it needs (and wants!) a tort guard! I think it needs a tort guard too. Here's my Rocketfire Strat
Feynman Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 It is, isn't it? I like it quite a bit. I have now banned three people for their tort suggestions - who's next?
backinit Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Can we talk about the tort-azz and the hair?
Hamer of the gods Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Nice! I love the classic Olympic White/Rosewood Strat! The only thing it needs are some bumps & bruises...(and maybe a little T&A! )
sw686blue Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 In all seriousness, that a cool, rockin' guitar, Mitch! Congratulations!
Feynman Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 In all seriousness, that a cool, rockin' guitar, Mitch! Congratulations! OK - I unbanned you.
specialk Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 In all seriousness, that a cool, rockin' guitar, Mitch! Congratulations! But a tort guard would be cooler, rockiner',
murkat Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 man, whats with you guys and torts on oly's . I just dont get it. Its like putting a K Mart training bra on Rachel Welch
specialk Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Shhh, don't tell Mitch, but I'm just yanking his chain, Personally I think that Strat looks fantastic the way it is, but I don't want him to know that. Oh, wait.....
Rockola Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Perfect! I love the triple white. I always wanted a match set white w/ rosewood and black w/ maple, like Glenn Tilbrook.S
JohnnyB Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Funny thing how a good Strat can do that to you. I have similar experience with a G&L Legacy, except that instead of a new acquisition, it's a 12-yr-old I pulled out of the closet to set up for consignment. A quick play-thru and this baby stays, maybe the only one besides the Newport. It's black & silver swirl with ivory moto pickguard and maple neck. I call it Blackie in Heels, and I'll post a pic when I'm feeling better. I've been down w/squeely pig flu all week.
