serial Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 MCChris hit the nail on the head! What dickless tools.
HAMERMAN Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Ted, thanks for getting things back up so quickly. It's short abscence reminded me just how much checking the board has become a part of my daily life.
Guest teefus2 Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 you guys deserve a round of applause for having this web site and all the extra work and support it encompasses. thanks.
Jeff R Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Thanks for all your work to keep the site going strong, Ted.Have you tried a tinfoil hat for the server yet? LOL
Guest galejt Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Now would be a good time to send the Tedster a little "Happy Meal" for his time and trouble, no?
hikarateboy Posted August 9, 2005 Author Posted August 9, 2005 Have you tried a tinfoil hat for the server yet? LOL Since we had to do a complete rebuild we added that and some! Thanks to everyone for keeping it positive. I love that about this place.
Jack C Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 And this place loves YOU, big fella.Wow, Turdus was right. Bill Murray does look a lot like the Huffer. Thanks for everything, Ted.
SteveC Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Thanks, Ted! MCC said it best above. We're all very grateful for all the BS you put up with to keep the HFC running smoothly!
discountsounds Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 those critical of the HFC I don't get it; I mean, what is there to be critical of? This site is just a bunch of folks geeked out over Hamer guitars. Who cares about that? It just doesn't make sense to target a little site like this. Oh well. Anyway, thank you for getting everything back up and running so quickly. I'm sure it took a huge chunk of time out of the weekend that could have been spent on other more fruitful activities.I'd like to whack the hacker with my heaviest Hamer a la Keith Richards circa 1981 in Virginia.
pesocaster Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Thanks for all you do Ted... To the Hackers.... they do make penial implans now.... look into them:http://www.seekwellness.com/mensexuality/penimpl.htm
Ryan07 Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Hacker: A slang term for a computer enthusiast, i.e., a person who enjoys learning programming languages and computer systems and can often be considered an expert on the subject(s). Among professional programmers, depending on how it used, the term can be either complimentary or derogatory, although it is developing an increasingly derogatory connotation. The pejorative sense of hacker is becoming more prominent largely because the popular press has coopted the term to refer to individuals who gain unauthorized access to computer systems for the purpose of stealing and corrupting data. Hackers, themselves, maintain that the proper term for such individuals is cracker.Don't compliment this fool by calling he/she a Hacker. They probably found a simple vulnerability in the server, and downloaded an exploit from packetstorm or securityfocus. We could train a monkey to do this kind of work. Some people would call them a Cracker or Script Kiddie... I prefer criminal.
ajay315 Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 We shall rain down on them like a sack of hammers and poop!!!!
frankb Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Thanks for getting everything back 'in order'. It is appreciated.
earachemyeye Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Thanks Ted! This site is a daily lift for me after work. Green stuff headed your way.Joe
Guest Buck Dharma Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 The Hacker clubs like to have Defacing contests. The club thet defaces the most sites wins. I had five websites hacked all at once a few years back since they were all on the same server. Forums make an easy target unfortunately for us. Lets hope they just picked it as a random target because hardening a site like this is nearly impossible to keep out a good hacker. Let's hope they were scriptkiddies.
JJ Paul Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Ted:you guys deserve all the r-e-s-p-e-c-t for all the good stuff you're doing for the music community at large.Your response to the attack was awesome.Whoever was responsible for this attack is a lame idiot, despite his "technical prowess" - and a coward too.I cannot understand what kind of kick he/she/they got out of taking down the server of a non-profit user group like HFC (or other, as a matter of fact). To all you dickhead hackers:BASTARDS, YOU SUCK
SirDouglas Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 when and if you find out....plesae forward this information to me and i will personally make surethis person or collection of people are never able to ever place thier hands and or fingers on another keyboard for as long as thier short lives allow.... trust me it will get takin care of... Randy
hamerhead Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Thanks Ted! You RAWK!!We all owe you a giant beer.
copper blue Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 I have to agree with Ryan on this one..to call them hackers is to give them too much credit..if you want to see what REAL hackers do, check outwww.makezine.comthe 2nd issue has a section on how to re-condition solid state amps...there was also a "how to make a pedal board" on one of the forums..these guys are not hackers, but just plain dickheads..although I'd love this "Hacker" to get me out of my hardware..http://www.thespiannet.com/actresses/J/jolie_angelina/h.jpg
Jon_Press Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Ted,Sorry you had to go through this mess. I hope you have more success finding the cuplrit(s) than the Hamer dealers who frequent (or frequented) this place who were "hacked" or "cracked" (either way f*&%ed) by this same crap.Is it possible that this "break in" was done by the same person(s?) that broke in here and changed people's signature lines or took down those other aforementioned sites? BTW, if I made the rules ALL these guys would lose their hands, as would the people who put viruses or spyware on poeple's machines. Then, when voice recogition tecnology would allow them to work without hands, I'd have no problem if their toungues went too. And I'm supposed to be one of the the "liberals" here!
