Hamer of the gods Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Vector Jr. One Volume One Tone Screamin Lollar P90 Wraptail or Tuna and Stop Lightweight Mahogany Tortoise Guard I like this idea! One slight modification though - to make it more universally appealing, I'd do it with a humbucker sized pickup route. Those that prefer P-90s have a lot of great options for humbucker sized P-90s (HD, Fralin, Rio, Duncan, etc.). Options for P-90 sized humbuckers are far more limited. And why not a sustainblock? To me a Jr is all about one P-90 and a stop tail or a wrap tail, but a sustain block would give it more uh...sustain!
hamerhead Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 To me a Jr is all about one P-90 and a stop tail or a wrap tail, but a sustain block would give it more uh...sustain! laugh.gif OH YEAH!!
BTMN Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 OH HELLS YA!!! This looks SO cool! One of those Jr. Standards with a Sustain Block on it or one of these.... http://www.allparts.com/AVT2G-G-Bridge-p/gb-2578-002.htm Oh MY!!! I'm having that Tonepros bridge and Tonepros Klusons put on my new Baby Dean Z. Gawd that would be a SWEET Hamer!!!
analogsystem Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I'll throw one more fantasy out there which is fairly similar to some others mentioned:Studio custom with a sustain bridge and boomers. Maybe an ebony fingerboard too.
serial Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 The biggest hurdle will be pricing. As much as I'd love to see boomers or a sustain block, when the cheapest Hamer streets out well over $2k now (closer to $2500 with normal dlr discounting), adding a single big ticket feature like those two will send it into $3k street territory quicker than anything. Wrap tails or enen stop/tunas are a lot less $$ than a sustain block bridge.
polara Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Yes, which leads us back to a great many debates over the company... a Hamer off the shelf new is more than almost any of us can afford, and a custom is is way out there.
BCR Greg Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 Yes, which leads us back to a great many debates over the company... a Hamer off the shelf new is more than almost any of us can afford, and a custom is is way out there. If we can get over the bling factor and come up with a straightforward guitar, the price may surprise you....if I can get a run made like I have in the past. Each of the limited runs that I did in the past were affordable because I got some extra special treatment and passed it on. I would love to keep doing that. Jol bombed my last several attempts at runs(like the Standard Junior above) by pricing them WAY out of reach of the typical HFC guy and towards the cork sniffers that he was trying to attract. I gave up after several attempts at a FAIRLY priced run and told Hamer that I would not bother with the effort again if I was going to have to deal with the company charging a ton just because they were limited editions.Change has happened. The time is right to start it up again, and here is your chance.
serial Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 If they'd do a Standard Junior TV at a realistic price, I'll order/buy one. "Realistic" to me is what I was buying semi-blinged out customs for a few years before Hamer became cork-sniffery (I ordered five customs then). Unfortunately, their bottom line guitar streets out more than most of my customs did.
bruce919 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Drop all the bound bodies, inlays , just make a stripped down player. I am still after the org. idea. P-90 in the neckTripple coil (or just Humbucker in bridge)Sustain Block bridge. Slab Body Special (or even multi-piece body Standard Mahogany to get it cheaper)Stock colorsVintage neck Carve DONE...
eightyfour Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I say we initiate the first ever run of Hamer relics, and call it the HFC wannabe series. Comes certified by real Hamer employees that each instrument was hand pummelled and dragged through the lutherian utopia of New Hartford, CT streets. Each headstock hand burned with Swisher grape butts.
kenjones Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Although a Standard Junior like Greg mocked up a few years back woukd be SOOO cool!Does a Photoshop mockup of this exist?

I would pitch the extra couple hundred in for a custom color even if its not sparkle.
Hamerphite Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Not saying I can afford it, but that makes my nipples stiff.Got pics?
analogsystem Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Solid color special with a sustainblock? Stipped down rock machine. What kind of price range are we talkin' here?
polara Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I'm seriously into the idea of a bare-bone rawk machine. I dig sustainblocks but wraps rock, too. I don't want or need the bling. Like I said my DREAM machine is a Junior in white with a sustainblock but a Vector junior would be cool. I personally find the Standard shape kind of enormous for a lonely P90 and wrap tail sitting out there, but maybe that is just me.

BCR Greg Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 Here's a quick and crappy mockup.... Wrapper Humbucker Bridge P-90 neck no guard no bling Straightforward rock machine. I did this to look like Korina, but we'd probably have to stick with mahogany for price concerns. TV would be nice, but vintage Orange is pretty bad ass as well....
zorrow Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Like the one above, but V-shaped and only one P-90's, and you got the perfect axe: the Vector Jr, of course.
BCR Greg Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 I personally don't want another Vector. They are not as versatile as a regular doublecut, and cost a lot more.
