bkmusicent Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Hello All,I have decided to sell my 1985 Phantom A5.It’s in Near Mint condition, virtually flawless with the exception of a couple of small cracks in the plastic trim ring around the bridge pickup (near the screw holes) and a few pick swirls on the pick guard. Kahler Locking Tremolo and OHSC.It plays great, looks great and sounds even better. The range and choices of sounds are thrilling on this guitar. This guitar is the real deal and the serial # checks out on this site. I'm sure there are very few out there in this condition. The case is also in very good condition, but does have a few nicks here and there - nothing major.I searched almost every day for a couple of years before I was lucky enough to find it. I definitely did not buy it with intentions of flipping later.I have owned the guitar for 3 years and it has spent most of that time in its case in my air conditioned closet ….. but I have been playing my customized '79 Strat since I bought it in '82 and have never quite been able to adapt to the feel (scale length, finished neck, etc) of the Phantom (or any other guitar for that matter).I included 4 pictures. http://s1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee444/bkmusicent/Hopefully some other Hamer fan will fall in love with it and give it the playtime it deserves.I am asking $1,000 + actual shipping costs If interested, PM me and I'll be happy to answer any questions and/or discuss details. Thanks, Bryan
Victor (Fret Friend) Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Ahem! These 4 pictures you mentioned?

cmatthes Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Is that a factory refin? (Wasn't that AnDy StEiN's from 1999 or so, iirc?)Any shots of the serial number?
bkmusicent Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 Is that a factory refin? (Wasn't that AnDy StEiN's from 1999 or so, iirc?)Any shots of the serial number?Yeah, the # says it was originally Pink and refinished at Hamer October 2000.Don't know if Andy Stein ever owned it - but Hamer definitely wasn't foolin around when they refinished it!It is the coolest "Bumble Bee" looking color I have ever seen.I will add serial # shot to pics soon.Bryan
G Man Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 If I were a shredder I would be all over that one. Looks great. GLWS.
murkat Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 If I were a shredder I would be all over that one. Looks great. GLWS. Oh, you don't have to be a shredder to enjoy an A5.... very versatile guitar! Very cool!

cmatthes Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 That's the one I thought it was! I have played that one (was there at the factory when it was being handed off to AnDy), and it is a NICE, NICE, NICE guitar. My son is gonna freak when he sees that one...Is that a factory refin? zorrow Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 How thick is the neck? Please, tell me it's film-thin, so I can stop thinking about buying it -Oh fuch! I need to get rid of this extra money ASAP, or else I'm heading straight to divorce!

I need to get rid of this extra money ASAP, or else I'm heading straight to divorce! Hi Zorrow, The neck thickness measures 3/4" at the 7th fret and seems uniform up and down the neck from there. Is that film-thin in your opinion (it's definitely not a "Strat" C or "baseball bat"). That goes back to my original problem - I had a "Vintage V" mod done to my stat way back and Danish Oiled it, it took some getting used to (I have big mitts too) but everything else ................... Cmatthes & All - Thanks for the kind comments about it ... it is a nice one! Bry
murkat Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Zorrow, you need this A5. You deserve it.A5's are badass. You are badass.Necks are like a medium C, (vector ish) so,your fingers will dance among the notes.Kahler has heavy springs? must have.
serial Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 My 6-in-line Phantom has been to every gig but two in the six years that I've had it. I mistakenly did not bring it last Friday night and missed it. Fantastic guitars.
carfish7 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 That thing makes me all tingly and stuff.......Who is Andy?
cmatthes Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 He was an active member back in the early days of the board and a buddy of Rechts. From Toronto - I bought a great Blue Marble Californian from him over 10 years ago that I'd love to have back!
bkmusicent Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 All,Thanks again for the interest and comments. The Phantom has been SOLD to a long time Hamer Fan who already owns a few different GT's and A5's.Thanks again and ROCK ON!Bryan

There's nothing shredder about phantoms other than the kahler/floyds, where present.
