murkat Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I am an instigator Need some ideas for a jam song list to do, or what others plan on playing so if and when if I get to play, I am not going up there too blind... whats the list? ideas? cause I'm going to tear sh*t up
Bloozguy Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 We're planning to do Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy plus a few others that are still TBD
shredmeister Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Anybody got any songs they want to do or need help on or whatever ?So far I know we will be doing Train Kept A Rollin by Aerosmith.Working on Don't Tell Me You Love Me (Night Ranger) right now also. Very fun tune and I always wanted to learn the solos.
Bloozguy Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 UFO anyone? We do Doctor Doctor and Too Hot To Handle on a regular basis...
crunchee Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 A helpful hint from one of my trips to Denmark Street, 2006.
bubs_42 Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I'd like to get up on stage this year. So i'm up for anything classic and bluesy
shredmeister Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Yeah if our drummer comes we will be doing Cowboy song for sure.We might do You Got Another Thing Coming - sounds like Joe wanted to do that tune.Maybe we could do some kind of huge instrumental jam at the end or something. I have all kinds of them. Just throwing it out there as a possible option. Getting sick of Stranglehold I guess. Be fund to get some shredders up there and tear it up.
earachemyeye Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Just Got Paid - love that tune. Dream Police is great also but heavy on synth. Think we could pull it off? If anybody plays keyboards well (i don't) I could bring mine. How about something 90's and newer? An instrumental jam sounds fun too, but maybe not too many chords. I really liked the 2 or was it 3 chord vamps that Chris, Dave and Funky did last year. It opens it up to a bunch of people getting in and showing their different chops. Maybe we could come up with the vamp ahead of time so folks can practice. This is gonna be fun.
shredmeister Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 A suggestion perhaps. I use this all the time. One of my favorite whip it out when you need to jam sequences. What is cool is that it gives the blues a harmonic minor twist. Opens it up to playing all kinds of scales from regular blues to harmonic minor if you want. Can mix them even.Anyway below is Am to D7 to E7 or your basic I IV V I IV V--5----5----7--5----6----9--6----5----7--7----7----9--7----5----7--5----X----XRepeat as necessary then.... F maj barre to E maj to Diminished and back to Am as follows...--1---0---4 then back to Am--1---0---3--2---1---4--3---2---3--3---2---X--1---0---X F E DimSuper easy to play once you try it. Anyway just an example thown out there.
Steve Haynie Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Last year it was mentioned that Cheap Trick's version of Ain't That A Shamer or Need Your Love, one of them, from the Budokan album would be a great jam tune.
hectorp Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Thanks, Instigator. Here is an instrumental jam that I posted on Youtube so young shredmeister and others who may want to play on the extended A and E jam in the middle can learn for the event. I'll also put up my other instrumental, Skirt Fever (during a performance of which once at the Muse Cafe, a spontaneous tribal drum jam broke out) for people who want to be on that. So much fun...

veatch Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Anyone up for Hocus Pocus? I have about six different ways to play the yodel part on the guitar, if'n i can remember them... I guess that would depend upon the drummer, too... Edited to add: Sorry - can't make the festivities this year - hopefully next year...
earachemyeye Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I'd love to do Godzilla. Shred, myself and others did Living after Midnight last year so that's not a problem. Doctor Doctor and Paranoid we have down also and I can sing on Mississippi Queen. Sure had a blast last time you were up Gene, looking forward to doing it again.

hectorp Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Hey Earachemyeye... Check out this cool Tempest Tune from the early 70s (by the way....featuring a young Alan Holdsworth) This perfectly suits your voice
