tobereeno Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 stunning guitar, just stunning!!I've long felt that cocobolo is by far the sexiest fingerboard wood in existence. Ten years ago or so I asked Hamer if they'd use it; their answer was "well, maybe, but we won't warranty it if we did". Maybe after the exotic-wood Chaparral that was recently done, they might reconsider....?
Bobby Marshall Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 That is a very thoughtful gift. You must be an extraordinary son. Must feel great to be appreciated by your parents. You are truly blessed.

They really didn't bat an eye when I asked for Wenge on the Chaparral. If I remember correctly, they were also open to a Rosewood neck when I asked about that for another order I was putting together...Sorry for the brief hijack...Beautiful guitfiddle fasho...
rj2858 Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Wow - someone spent some dough on you!It really is a beauty, just what kind of evidence have you got on them? LOL
Rodan Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 REALLY beautiful!! Though any transparent color would be nice over that quilt, I think that's some of the prettiest use of blue I've ever seen!Congrats!
thehikingdude Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 Thanks everybody!!! This thing is amazing. Especially when I split the coils, and the Trem - wow. The damn thing stays in tune like you wouldn't believe. Just got home from a 3 hour jam, mostly classic rock. Tons of Floyd. Totally blew me away. And thanks to my Mom and Dad!!!
thehikingdude Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 Can't resist sharing. Finally took some of own pics.
geobluto Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Outstanding flame and work on that Beauty...enjoy for many years to come!!!!!!!!!!!
django49 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Jeff: When we do get together, I will bring this one.......Not in the same class as yours, but you might get a kick out of it.....Has the splitters and piezo. No picture in hand of the back, but it is finished in the same way as yours.
thehikingdude Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 That looks great to my eyes!!!!! Interesting knob placement. What's the setup? Also curious about those pickups. Thanks for sharing!
django49 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 The center knob adds or subtracts the piezo.......And is push/pull for 2 different EQs from the "acoustic" side. The rear is a blend, so you can vary the mix between the two pickups (Fralin, BTW, "directed couple" to a solid block inside the chambered body) in whatever proportion you want. The other two are master v and master t. Each is push/pull so you can split either pickup separately. The knobs were custom ordered to match the pearl and abalone stairstep inlays. You do not stumble into very many Jaros......The company has a 3 part history (pt 2 c/o Ed Roman) but it is now under ownership that seems to have less baggage.
Feynman Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 That guitar is over the top, and a present to boot - someone likes you. Congrats.
thehikingdude Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Why so sad? Turn that frown upside down! Did you notice the Chesire Cat? Sadly it got covered up with the pickups.
sirDaniel Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 guess I know where that one will be hangin out...
zenmindbeginner Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Why so sad? Turn that frown upside down! Did you notice the Chesire Cat? Sadly it got covered up with the pickups. I just see Fat Albert.
Bobby Marshall Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 That quilt just makes you want to jump in, know what I mean?
django49 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 You gotta love quilted maple....It can have so much "personality" that you can read into it. I am an (amateur) woodworker and I LOVE to try to bring out the unique "person": in each piece of wood.
gorch Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Congratulations! You will remember the presentation for your lifetime. The guitar is awesome. I really like the side view.
thehikingdude Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Hey, man, can I borrow your guitar? Yep, just as soon as I'm bored with it.
