I got a hold of this one quite awhile ago. Thinking it came this way, but who knows? What you guys think? Crowned, not bound. 1988 Scarab, very interesting paint under clear, what I can see. Initials R.C. 88' near input jack shed any light? Hamer U.S.A. logo on headstock. Didn't come with case. Any log info on this 8 20503 ? Thanks!

You saying only a blind man would play such a geetar?

Didn't Hamer have custom stuff done 'out of house'?

Nope. Not that.

That's totally a basement job. Even the logo is aftermarket.

Yes but that looks like it was done AT somebodys house if not a schoolhouse.

Reminds me of French naive painters styles, and even more of creole styles (afro-caribean)

In the hands of someone that appreciate that, it is a beautiful instrument. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...i like it

I totally hear you. Reminds me of the art you'd see in the dressing room at the H.O. B.

To each, their own. And I wouldn't own that if you paid me to. Looks like a good refin project ;)

You nailed it on the afro caribbean art. I too agree that it needs to be appreciated in it's cultural context.

I want it so I can refinish it.

This would be right at home in some corners of the deep south. A roots/americana/whateverthehell musician I like a lot is also a primitivist painter. His name is Paul Thorn, the second best thing to ever come out of Tupelo, Mississippi. If his lead guitarist wasn't a lefty, I'd give it to him. As it is, Paul would probably dig the hell out of it. Here's Paul's latest album cover (self-painted).

P.S. to add, the guitar ain't my cuppa hemlock, but, eye of the beholder and all that.

The moon is off-center.

... due to intonation adjustments.

It reminds me a lot of the style of this painter, but is more anthropomorphical on his compositions. His name is Manuel Mendive.

Very early Joe Satriani/Vernon Reid wacky.....if you can identify the artist, it might have some value.

It looks very...um...festive. What the hell - I'd rock it!
