Miffed - modern strobe tuners

Question

Okay, I haven't had a nice strobe tuner for setting accurate guitar intonation (I know, I know, shut up Muse and silentman in advance) since I sold my old shoebox-sized Conn a few moons ago on this board. I'm in the market. What's good enough for quite nice intonation without spending a fortune? I saw GC has a Peterson unit that streets for $3,700 - that IS NOT what I'm looking for. They also have a clip-on strobe that streets for $80 and has positive reviews. WTF? Cajun Boy has one of their strobe stompboxes, any feedback before I borrow his as the default?

Anywhoo, any feedback is appreciated. FYI, I did an eBay search for shoebox-sized Conn strobes - none :(

I have a Peterson strobostomp VS S2 pedal.

Its really accurate, offers different tuning/temperaments options and wasn't real expensive ($150 ish).

If anything it;'s too sensitive and can take a while to get used to, (if you had a conn you'll get used to it quickly) and it's not really well enough backlit for stage (although this could be due to my age/crappy eyesight.

I usually tune with it before shows but use a clip on during as I don't want it plugged in between the guitar and amp as I'm a guitar/lead/amp kind of guy.

Check this out $79.00 BIN.

Not sure if this is the same but it looks similar.

I have both versions of the turbo tuner. Table top one for set ups and two pedal versions.

I also have the peterson strobostomp but the turbo tuner is more accurate and easier to read. And the pedal version of the turbo tuner is the size of an Mxr pedal.

Many to choose from. You should look at videos of the displays and lists of features to find the best for you.

+1 on the Turbo Tuner. I've got the stomp box version and took it off my pedal board because it was too accurate. Now I just use it at home for setups. I believe it's the only one that's true analog strobe.

I like the TurboTuner for pedalboards. At home, I use the Peterson VS-II (out of production). I intonate all guitars with the "EQU" parameter and tune normally with the "GUIT" setting. I just dialed in my Eclipse 12str and what a difference it made. Chords and arpeggiations are nice and detailed now, instead of having the typical, 12str "smear."

In my music station, ghetto-rack-rig I have a Korg DTR-2000 to use with the PodPRO. Fast and accurate.

Another Peterson user here. Bought a VS-I 14 years ago that's around but semi-retired, Strobo-Flip that commutes from the bench to the pedal board (Display is much brighter than the 1st gen VS), and a Strobo-Clip that's used on acoustic gigs and as a quick grab-n-tune around the house. Love 'em...

70s conn strobo tuner on the bench, korg dtr2000 rack , pitchblacks on various pedalboards , pitchblack clip ons . simpler the better for me live .

I'm LOVING the Turbo-tuner, super quick, for i.d.ing the offender. The rotation/speed gets easy, more intuitive the more you use it. And you don't have to get "fine" every time you check in, a hair fast or slow is o.k.----My acoustics sound better than ever. ( I also bought the one with the mic built in) and again it's FAST, no lag.

I've got a Peterson VS-II ... would seriously consider a TurboTuner if I was buying one today. I talked to them during the development of their stand alone unit... I said I wanted it in yellow, so I could find it in the dark... I wanted the big note to show in the middle of the rotating screen like on their pedal so I don't always have to get up close, and I wanted a rubber bumper around it in case it got dropped... looks like they didn't listen to me...

I've got an old VS-1 that works well for me. Had it since knew, so I'm quite happy with its performance and lifespan. It gets a little twitchy to read on the high strings, but I'm used to it at this point.

I've been happy enough with the Peterson that if it weren't for a thread like this to give me other ideas, I'd probably go straight back to them if I was shopping for a replacement.

Peterson. They have gotten much better with the digital stobes, but the original 400 series analog tuners are my favorite. (420)

Strobo-Flip here. (Bass players DO tune-up, y'know. Lol)

I find it fast and super accurate.

Plus their customer service is top notch.

Scratched up the logo on the lighted flip top. Sent an email asking if they had a replacement I could buy.

Sent me one 'gratis'. Even helped me change it out, directing me over the phone.
