Anyone put a Bigsby on a Hamer Artist or Sunburst?

I'm kinda keen on the idea of putting a B5 or B7 Bigsby with a Vibramate on my Hamer Artist. I would have to move the pickup switch, possibly put it in one of the tone pot holes...

Is it possible at all? A great, stupid or merely mediocre idea?

Certainly doable. The switch location is the main issue. That and being absolutely sure you like Bigsbys. This was the giveaway guitar at the 5th annual HFC factory tour:

It looks pretty much like a Newport missing a f-hole.

I remember having seen (here within the forum) an Artist with a Switch in the upper horn for the Bigsby installation...

In fact, I wanted to know if someone already saw a pickup switch with one of the buttons (push push or push pull) for non adding another hole...

2 Pickups configuration and only vol/ton with integrated switch....

Ok. Thanks for the replies.

One challenge is that my Artist is a Korina III (or whatever it's called) with three P90s and a five-way rotary switch. So the switch issue is a little more complicated. The rotary can't be moved to a pot hole because it's too large, so I would have to install a regular 3-way switch like in the image above and then perhaps use a pull-push to activate the middle pickup or something like that. (This actually has advantages over the rotary config because the regular switch is easier to flick quickly.). I'm not sure I can be bothered with all this ...

I wouldn't do it.

How about a Stetsbar?

I think some HFC-ers have tried 'em.

Yes. That would actually be my choice if I wanted to do that. I've tried them and they're a great device.

3 pickup, Korina. with a Bigsby.?!

Its an abomination!!!

3days in stocks in the public square.

As far as the switch goes, you could use one of those Jimmy Page 6-way toggles.

....but I wouldn't do it. Eventually you'll regret it.

With three P90s a Schaller LP Tremolo could do the trick. Tuning stability is superb. I'm using one on a MIK Standard for about 5 years now. Might have one left in the drawer.

We have two threads on these.

Let me know if you are interested.

Hi, I am very interested in this topic cause I have the same dream,

with an Artist Korina with 3 pot...

I tried the Schaller bridge, but pulling the strings too high

beacause is more close to the neck.

Need some suggestion, now go to look Stetsbar

although you will agree with me that the Bigsby is more fascinating :)

I had thought about putting a LEFT-hand Bigsby on a Hamer Eclipse years ago, the idea being that the left-hand trem wouldn't get in the way of the knobs or pickup switch, since the trem arm is on the opposite side, same side as the bass strings (think SRV's 'Number One' with the flipped Strat trem); but, like what burningyen said, you need to REALLY be sure that you like Bigsbys regardless of how you do it. BTW, a Bigsby will add about a pound/400+g or so to the weight. I most recently had considered putting a Bigsby + Vibramate on one of my 90's Les Paul Studios (I'm a sucker for the Bigsby look), but I decided against it as they're heavy enough as is.

Edited to add: You can look at this one as an example, it looks to me like it's had it's pickup switch moved (no affiliation):

I put a Bigsby on my Flying V and it's great. Think Lonnie Mack. I also used a Vibramate. V

Thanks Crunchee for useful advices, especially about weight...

honestly don't think I can move the selector,

I really like the look of Bigsby,

definitely more than the Stetsbar,

but I think it is the best solution :(

Korina guitars are rare ducks. Even more rare that it ALSO has P-90s, and MORE RARE that its also an Artist triple-pickup. Putting unnecessary holes in the top? Triple-Nope. I'd go with the Stetsbar, too.

You really gotta be a bigsby lover to even consider doing this, imho they aren't that useful and can be quite the pain in the a** to set up and keep the guitar in tune. They do have a somewhat pleasing appearance on certain guitars but to me the negatives outweigh the positives...just my opinion of course :)

I had a Stetsbar on my Hamer Studio Custom Electraglide II. Worked ok, but was pretty hideous.
