Pretty! They could have matched the cavity covers to the back, though....

I was just thinking, shouldn't the covers match on a guitar of this lineage, or is it that Hamer led me to expect too much?

It also somehow lost weight, from 8.9 lbs to 8.2lbs?

I think the issues listed above are the reason the guitar is priced so affordably.

That's actually a pretty good price.

Damm nice looking guitar!

Sorry, but I just don't 'get' Hubers. I've played a few and they're clearly made well, but I don't understand the godlike qualities that are attributed to them. That hasn't been my experience.

And unbound dot boards looks cheap for a guitar at that price point.

That's the first time I've heard a less than glowing review for a Huber.

My preference, too, is to have the binding. Speaking only for myself, I have been pretty much blown away by every one (Huber) I have played. But then I have only tried out 14 or 15. The only two that I could bring myself to let go were a Krautster (because I picked up the 2 pickup model) and the Twangmeister (I just never seem to bond with a "Tele"-type).

Ironically, perhaps, the one I play the most is a "less fancy" Dolphin with no binding with the longer scale (which I NEVER used to get along with). Really, the only reason I am selling my last Talladega Pro is because of a certain Dolphin.

One example OF binding......

Drool-worthy!

Living in the middle of nowhere, the only way I'll ever get to play a Huber is if I buy it first,,, and if I do buy one I want it to be 100% stock so I'll get the full sense of what that model is. The Krautster II is highest on my list, just waiting for Django to put his up for sale! :)

Oh boy! Only problem with that is that I would most likely sell off at least half of my stash of our favorite subject (Hamers) before I ever considered doing anything with the K2. No less so after tracking one down in my preferred color! And I certainly mean that as no slight to the Hamers.

On the one hand, there seem to be a fair number of K2s out there. On the other, they NEVER seem to be cheap.

BTW, I will add in to the opinion that the subject Jubilee is offered at a great price. That is, if the raised questions (pickups, weight and any other anomalies about its history) are answered.

PS.....As best I can tell, prices on Hubers are going up about 10% a year, which I suppose puts a base K2 at nearly $4k today. And good luck in getting anything more than a token break on the list prices. Probably the best thing is to try to find a dealer that has had one in stock for a good while.

Really all of the boutique guitars are questionable. Name one iconic album recorded with a boutique guitar. At the time of iconic guitar albums, generic stuff was all that was available. Now that guitar music is dead, all these builders are creating an illusion of guitars rebirth.

I just bought this Krautster II. Worth every penny. As many of you know, I've owned a lot of guitars and 3 Hubers. They are a cut above. They just play effortlessly, Haussel pickups rock, the wood is great and rings forever and they are... just damn cool! haha.

Wise choice. Not much I would change. (Wink, wink).

You're killing me, that's the color I'd like, or maybe the goldtop,,,

My first plan was to seek one in gold. A certain wise man (guy?) advised me that "the gold finish just does not work as well on a flat top guitar". (Great advice, Greg P!)

Copper rules! (YMMV)

I emailed them last night, they called me first thing today with answers to every question I had. The important one, yes, the pickups have been changed. He told me what these were, but it was this morning and I've already forgotten, trying to put this thing out of my head. Schlamp-tones or something like that? are what's in it now.

If it had the original pickups I would have got it immediately. I shot them a lowball offer, they politely declined (as I expected) and I told them to let me know if it doesn't get gobbled up and maybe we can work something out.

Got home tonight fully expecting it to be off their site, but it's still there.

I'm still very tempted on this as it is. Crap.

They were great to deal with, btw. Very professional and knew their shit. That was different.
