This is fantastic to read your review, DB!  I know it sounds like some of us are piling on, but Mike/Mike's guitars really ARE that good.  The combination with Josh might have been a happy accident, but that combination really works.

Thanks David!  Trish and I had a blast having you here and I loved working on this project with you.  Can't wait to see some pics/video of it in action.

Its been a really cool weekend and I'll never forget it.  Great walking around the old Hamer premises with you and Phil, sharing a few beers and having a laugh about your old days there.

I must say that miniature hollow body you let me play was outstanding. A real surprise. Soo responsive and lively! I call it "The Imp" for obvious reasons.

Lol you gotta be kidding me.......that is the coolest looking guitar ever crafted, well, this side of my gulfburst Ultimate ;)

Your guitar is simply stunning......perfect in every way. Those of us fortunate to own a Shishkov understand completely. 0006 is the best guitar I have ever touched.

i love the finish you chose, the hardware, the neck...everything...just wow. The Gravelin's are awesome pickups.

Great review of undoubtedly a great guitar....off-the-charts great, right?

Ever since you posted the finish color, I keep going back and looking at it.

All hail Team Shishkov!

^^ Chris you are spot on! It looks and plays superbly.  But that pinkburst Imp... Improv pickup, double bound, arched, braced, carved and bespoke made tailpiece etc..  It sounded AMAZING. Really vibrant.  I must have spent twenty minutes playing that.

Hi Dave, Phil here. :D It was an absolute pleasure to meet you, and to have a face and personality to put with the guitar! Hard to believe, it's been almost 2 years now for me. Thanks to you and everyone else here for the opportunity to be part of something so great......and it is!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy the guitar for years to come. Knowing people have been beyond pleased is what makes it all worth the while. I look forward to hearing those recordings!!!

^^ I've had to stop playing for now. My fingers are sore for the first time in years.  It was a fun walk around where Hamer were once based wasnt it Phil?  The urinal story was hilarious.

As I couldn't quite put the Super-C away I decided to take a look in the control cavity.  Holy-super-clean-magazine photo grade wiring!!

Do you have a fetish with taking pictures with small guitars?

I have two pics out of several hundred with a 3/4 sized guitar and it's a fetish?

I'm 6'2", so most guitars that look small on me might look big on some others.  Not pointing fingers or anything....

I appreciate wiring isn't all that exciting to everybody but without it working perfectly the whole thing falls apart.  The Shishkov mojo continues inside those perfectly formed cavities.  This is an example of first class wiring.

looks great!   plus the added bonus of Mike not using those wonky switchcraft jacks

that have loctite added to the internal nut... love love love not having that.

In case anyone was wondering about the switching combinations I have a volume which splits coils when lifted.  The three way toggle is self explanatory.

The switch is a blower switch that bypasses everything and sends humbucker straight to the jack.  This works really well for me as I don't often channel switch regardless of which AXE FX amp I am using.  I can set up the neck coil, middle position, split the bridge, roll off the volume, and then flick the blower and hit full output from the humbucker. Practically this works well as I could set up a nice clean tone -say 80% volume on the neck - and then switch to 100% humbucker for a solo (with a bit of useful extra output) before going back etc.

I had no experience of a blower switch before this but its something I really wanted.  It works VERY well for my preferences.

No... I think he might have a point.

The Super C looks like an infinitely cooler EBMM Silhouette, which is a pretty cool guitar in its own right.

Playing around this evening, put the guitar down for a moment to fiddle with amp settings, stood back and went "Wow...".  Sorry for another photo but this guitar is insane.

Sorry for another photo ....

Apologize for that again and we'll bitch slap you.

Mike's double-cut designs are indeed the shiznit.
