TobiTill Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Wow, These threads about the Shishkov custom orders are like witnessing the beginning of an amazing journey. As with a great book, I can't wait to see the next paragraphs, pages... Have a nice sunday, everyone. Regards, Tobias
unfun75 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I mean, it's okay if you're into that sorta thing... which we all are!!! Amazing.

Look at the perfection in that board. The inlays, the binding, the fretwork, everything about that is stunning. I forgot to mention the tiny details on the fret nibs in black and especially the last fret. Notice the angled fret dressing that follows the end of the board. And the paper thin white binding between the board and the black outer binding. Amazing detail.
silentman Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Alright. Enough with the BS. Show us the the headstock already.

tobereeno Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 OMG. I totally see where that headstock is going. Reverse it, and I'll lose my marbles for sure! Food for thought; a doubleneck "Super C"....
tobereeno Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 some technical questions regarding wood choice: - I'm very accustomed to the standard Hamer formula of maple neck/mahogany body. How does wenge sound, comparatively? Especially when mated to an ebony fretboard? And wenge is as strong/stable as maple? - that solid maple body is shockingly stunning. pure wood porn. I'm concerned however about general reports of the sound of maple-bodied Californians - they're beautiful, but owners on the HFC seemed to have moved them along. On the one hand, I tend to sound the same no matter what I play, but on the other hand...I don't have any maple-bodied guitars. Mike and I are in the idea stage at this point. Apparently, if I select wenge, it'll be twice the pain in the ass.....
DBraz Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Wenge is a very stable wood often favoured hy bass players. It is bright relatively and has been referred to as "growly". Dont worry too much about maple body brightness. Big leaf maple isnt too bright. To me its interesting to hear of the FM body Cali observations. I have owned numerous FM Cali's and Mahogany bodied Cali's. Granted the mahogany Cali's are warmer than the FM's but not enough for me to change my amp settings.
tobereeno Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 that is hands down the sexiest guitar in the history of ever. given that DBraz and I have virtually identical tastes in guitars....I've already gotten blank check approval from my wife, so I'd expect to see something similar come up again....

You can do a lot with a blank cheque 👍🏻 Indeed it is an incredible looking guitar. To me the finest super strat I have EVER seen.
