DBraz Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 Chris isn't the only one taking pictures outdoors. The guitars certainly look AMAZING under natural light. Inlay detail is unreal.

Improv pickup, double bound, arched, braced, carved and bespoke made tailpiece etc.. It sounded AMAZING. Really vibrant. I must have spent twenty minutes playing that. IIRC, didn't Mike make this for his daughter when he was still at Hamer? I seem to recall a thread on this or one like it.
cmatthes Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Yes, he made that some time ago (while he was at Hamer). He's made a few "big people" archtops as well.

Someone said "If its a hollow body you may as well brace it". He did. Then he bound the body. Someone said "If you are going to bind the top why not do the bottom too?". He did. Then the pickup. "Well it might as well be an Improv pickup..." Pink. "Well... It could be a pink burst?" And so it continued. One of the nicest sounding clean guitar sounds I have ever played. Seriously.
DBraz Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 Mucking about with the tripod this evening. Its hard not to take a photo of my favourite guitar. The carving makes the body look thin but at its thickest point it is marginally thicker than a Cali. As well as the obvious aesthetic benefits carving offers it also helps the body lose weight which is beneficial.

DBraz Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Had a play in my friends studio recently and took some cool pics. We could play with lighting and things which I simply can't do at home. I'm pretty happy with how they came out.
bubs_42 Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I LOVE THAT HEADSTOCK! I know I keep saying it but its true.
soli'd Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 @DBraz, are there any sound or video clips of this instrument? I'd really like to hear the combination of the solid FM body and the wenge neck. And the bridge. And the pickups. Or I could just keep looking at it, either way is cool.

I'll get something sorted to show the sounds and how the switching works when I use it. It's a good question. The wenge, in my opinion, isn't as bright as maple. A bit more mid range and growl.

mrjamiam Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Here's your new challenge: try to find a bad angle! Gorgeous guitar.

Steve Haynie Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 DBraz, have you ever considered passing 0050 "Super C" around to your HFC brethren in the same generous way BTMN made Wyldbil Pirate Special #5 available to so many of us?

DBraz Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 Diablo175 popped over and had a play of the Super-C. He was pretty amazed by the inlay detail and feel of the wenge neck. The biggest surprise was that in an A/B test it wasn't much brighter than my mahogany set neck Cali Custom.
DBraz Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 So it's been exactly a year sinse I acquired my Shishkov Super-C. The first few months of playing it involved me treating it with kiddie gloves as it is so hot damned good looking. I was paranoid someone would knock it or that some horrible accident would happen whilst it was in my presence. Over time at has changed and it goes wherever I play as my number one regardless. Over time I have come to appreciate different things about it not least just how good the neck and fretboard is in comparison to my Cali's. The frets in particular were a great call on my part being medium wide/very tall which really suits me. That in particular was an educated risk as it provides a semi-scalloped feel without the extreme of a full scallop. I have changed the bridge humbucker to a different Gravelin that Josh did for for my FM Cali. It sounded so good I tried it out in the Super-C and there it has remained. It's a bit darker than the original humbucker which suits the maple body better - not that the original was bright. While no guitar could ever replace this I am keen to acquire my second Super-C which I paid the deposit for within a week of acquiring this one. It's that good.
BubbaVO Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 That 12th fret dragon inlay... crazy cool color...flamey maple goodness...bronzed hardware... what a way to introduce us to the Super C. I can't wait to see what the next one looks like.
DBraz Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 ^^ It has created its own problem in that the neck feels so perfect. Anything else is a bit second best. I actually think I find it even easier to play now than when I first started. In all likelihood I’ll still with the same neck dimensions and frets to retain a similar feel.
