How about a rule that says if you cannot pick a color you get solid black as a default?  In mc2's case it will be default red.

Yes indeed. I've been thinking about January dates for a Frozen Jam. Perhaps the Saturday before the Super Bowl would be best?  Will there be enough Shishkovs in existence by then?
