a.bandini Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 I bought its twin a few months ago, for about $100 more, and thought I got a great deal. Mine was as close to mint as one could get. So close in fact, that the sun glints off my teeth when I think about it and smile. Brandy new, in effect. Chips off the headstock on this one? Who cares?
Tortious Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I have a twin of that as well. Came with Bartolini's. Amazingly good bass.
Jakeboy Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Well this sucks a bit.... I had a deal with the seller. Straight up trade for an amp. We both ship. Equal value instruments. Yay. A nice guy. He calls me today and says he hopes I won't be disappointed but some guy called him today with cash in hand and wants to look at the bass tomorrow....and he lowered the price to $550. He says it's mine if the guy walks. I told him if the guy has a brain he won't walk. oh well. I will post an amp and my Bass VI soon to raise money for a partscaster PJ bass. Unless someone here has a Cruise to sell.
geowolves Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 $550, that's a steal right there. Yeah walk away from that one for that price something is wrong!
Jakeboy Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Sometimes you get a dream to come true, sometimes you get a room with a view.... My bass 6 sold so I texted this guy and he still has the Cruise. We struck a GREAT deal for me and it will arrive sometime next week! He sent detailed pics of some nicks, scrapes and a finish crack in the neck pocket....The SN starts with a 5 so I assume it is a 1995. I am so excited. I will only use this for recording but it will be cool to have a quality long-scale bass. I need some flats for this blue beast! My 2tek Cruise is incoming!
Jfritts Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 That's a great deal. I have a minty Cruise 5 string fretless 2-TEK that I'm going to put up for sale soon. It's as good a build quality as anything I've owned and has huge tone. Too bad that I can't play it well without wearing my reading specs...just too much of a visual blur for my far-sighted eyes. Anyway, you got a deal!

I'll give a person one chance when it comes to deals... a deal is a deal. If someone backs out on me like that guy did, they can pound sand from now on for all I care, I'll never deal with them again.

It was shipped today before I have even paid him and he decided to cover all shipping costs. He really seems like a decent guy. I will put some flats on it and will have some thump....

JohnnyB Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 19 hours ago, Jakeboy said: I will put some flats on it and will have some thump.... I really like the GHS Pressurewound strings. They're made like roundwounds, but the wrap wire is flattened just before being wound around the core. This provides more definition and a sound and response more like a roundwound, but the metal is Alloy 52, which is 52% iron and 48% nickel. This makes for a very magnetic wrap, which makes for a stronger, fuller signal more like a good flatwound. Ken Smith offers a similar if not identical string called the Compressors. Not only is the wrap flattened like the GHS Pressurewound strings, but the strings are also made from Alloy 52. If you must have flats, for general use it's hard to beat D'Addario Chromes Flatwound. Smooth feel, great tonal balance, full sound, and oh-so comfortable to play. For the closest thing to an upright bass sound, the Thomastik-Infeld nickel-wound Jazz Flats are the best I know of. They're not cheap, but they have a great sound. They have a round core and nickel wrap, so they're low tension, and therefore not so great at fast playing.
Jakeboy Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Great info on the bass strings, JohnnyB. I am pretty clueless in that realm.....this helped.

Jakeboy Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 So my Cruisebass was shipped on 30 June with a delivery date of today.....no bass. I called FedEx twice and they have no idea where it is. It left Denver at 0500 on Thursday. A 9 hour drive here. Our local FedEx hub sucks. FedEx is all I use cause it is great everywhere.,,except HERE. I hate shipping issues...,this is the second FedEx snafu in a row. I really wanted to slap some flats on that bad boy this weekend. Abbey it will arrive tomorrow...if not, then Tuesday as FedEx ground doesn't deliver Monday. My Newport st in a cold warehouse in Columbia, MO for an extra 3 days back in January in a similar situation. i just want the bass to arrive safe and sound.
pablo Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I'll light a candle for that, we wanna see you slaping this bad boy soon Best regards
