Deep7 Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 http://www.larkstreetmusic.com/stock.html No affiliation. The list of in stock instruments is all on one page so your best bet is to search for "Hamer". Here are the descriptions. 1. HAMER Sunburst, 1978, cherry sunburst curly Maple flat top, Dimarzio humbuckers- a zebra and a double white, peghead break was sufficiently repaired, vgc+, ohsc...$1595. 2. HAMER Studio Custom, ca 1997, sunburst, carved curly maple top with 2 Humbuckers, 8.2 lbs, crown inlays in the rosewood board, mahogany neck and body, Duncan antiquity PAFs, custom built as a personal guitar for a Hamer dealer, exc+, ohsc...$2150.
kizanski Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Because when you're considering a guitar with a headstock repair, you want one that has been "sufficiently repaired." "Was it expertly repaired?" "No no... It was SUFFICIENTLY repaired, my friend." Buzzy is something of a double-talker, so caveat emptor.
atomicwash Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 131213 (if I’m seeing it correctly) might place that Studio in 1991, not 1997. EDIT: Or 151215 making it a 2001.
Deep7 Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 I saw that too and emailed him that it should be 2001 and not 1997. Pretty sure that 2nd digit is a 5 because my 1992 has a lower SN. He changed it in the "Just In" section but not the "In Stock" section. Oh well, I've done enough good deeds for one day. 😄

ARM OF HAMER Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Yeah....................... poor description of the break on the headstock on that early Hamer[And "MINTY CLEAN" NOPE!]................not a bad guitar otherwise providing there are no other surprise issues that are "SUFFICIENTLY" repaired. That guitar REALLY took a hit as it looks to have some heel damage also. And that "Crack" on the headstock you can clearly see it went into the face, OUCH! If I bought that guitar it would be going straight along to Jay @ NTL for a proper repair job, he would do it right.
Dutchman Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Expertly repaired is done with routed splines, stronger than before break. Sufficiently repaired is somebody glued it back together. Questionable repair is elmers and drywall screws. Not repaired is working tuners not included.
cmatthes Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Buzzy being evasive or dodgy, Kiz?! Say it isn't so...
kurtsstuff Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Something with the bridge and the low E string that's basically off the fretboard??

And given the angle at which the photo was taken, this isn't a case of the "photo lying." If anything, the angle is hiding how bad it really is. That wound E string is actually hanging off the fretboard. Never mind "sufficiently repaired." I'd wager that guitar isn't even playable.
Steve Haynie Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Salvage the body with a new neck, or perhaps find a donor neck.

I got a BCR-(expertly)-repaired Sunburst archtop for under $900. Paying twice that for a guitar in need of a new/donor neck that will then need a finish match is a passion project for someone with more dollars than sense.
Steve Haynie Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 I never said to buy it. Someone should make an offer for just the body with electronics and hardware included. A case should be thrown in. Considering the cost of restoration, offer $200 and see what happens.
santellavision Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 The neck/body joint looks like it may have been repaired too.

cynic Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 First time I’ve seen the inlays be off-center to the treble side.
