Tortious Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 🤬 It seemed pretty obvious, but still quite sucked.
tweed Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Y'know, I really think the guitar world will never know what it missed.

It's been 81 years. I think you can safely quote Roosevelt at this point.
JGale Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I think he was speaking metaphorically. The thick piece of wood in your hands thing...

After wanting one since 1978 (saw Cheap Trick at The Calderone in Long Island NY), I ordered my Black Standard 12 String Bass on July 28th 2008 from Greg at BCR and it arrived in January of 2010. I'm so glad I got mine before the end.

RobB Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 KMC/Hamer pretty much wrote the book on the wrong way to promote your brand. In retrospect, it seems like the whole era was a vanity project for the young Kaman. PRS, Schecter, ESP, and Dean all flourished. They seemed to have the formula for MI success, whereas Hamer snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. It’s a darn shame.

Bring back the USA Californian on a production line as close to old specs as possible and sell at $3,000 a pop. Like Fender is doing with Chavel and Jackson USA models.

The brand is presently owned by Exertis/DCC, a conglomerate that does not appear all that focused on instruments. https://www.exertis.com/ They own Jam Industries, which is somewhat focused on musical things. https://jamindustries.com/ Looking through that, I don't even see the Hamer name listed any longer, makes me think they may have discontinued their last attempt at imports using the name. Maybe it's for sale again. Maybe not. At any rate, I don't see a resurrection like you envisioned happening any time soon.
mathman Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 The talented artisans who crafted these guitars are not coming back, so neither are the guitars. Replicas, maybe, quality replica's? possible. but the Hamer as we know it are done.
Crimsontider Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Wishful thinking. Recently watched a Hamer shop documentary again and was reminded of the painstaking detail they put in crafting their guitars. Amazing. That you couldn't replicate. Gone.

Hamer is gone, gone, gone.

A good reason to keep the guitars and play them.
