Appears to be a combo of lighting and the angle do the picture to me

Take the cover off and see if there's another screw hole below the one up top.

If it's not in front of you, ask the person who owns it to show you.

Is that maybe a mid 90's to 2004, and they changed the TR cover style and size?.

I did ask the owner to see if it has an extra screw hole under there. I really should copy and paste his response here but won't. With that said..I no longer have any interest in the guitar so...carry on! :)  oh...they say it's a 1994 build

Definitely the wrong TRC.

That said I think I speak for everyone when I say post his reply.

It looks like a misplaced or different sized logo to me.  I have a special and an artist korina with that same ugly trc. Keep meaning to find something nicer to replace them with. I think that trc mercifully went away around 2000.

There does seem to have been a bit of variation in the logo placement during the 90s. These two are only 50 apart by serial number, both from 1993.spacer.png

It’s a ‘94 - correct truss rod cover, correct logo, just placed slightly too close to the nut.

Maybe the last one before the Friday afternoon shift ended?

I thought that this only happened at the Gibson factory!

Or maybe the last one before the pizza-day pizza arrived!

Dave at Frets on the Net can make you a TRC so the pointed end screw hole is closer to the end of the cover. That would make it not so obvious. Dave will ask you for dimensions and deliver a fine product. He's made a few very cool products for me and he's quite reasonably priced. Hint: black brushed aluminum looks great!

Depending on what it looks like under the TRC, you might be able to relocate the pointed end hole a tad closer to the the nut, then have the pointed end of the cover hide the existing hole. PM me & I can send a sketch if you're interested.

Or an early morning Saturday emergency call from the shop manager, after a Friday night beer-fest, & waking with a bleary-eyed no coffee hangover for a day of applying HAMERUSA on headstock duty.

1994 post Gibson settlement - They can no longer use the bell style cover and the headstock scroll changed slightly.

There were several incarnations of post bell covers (some considerably larger than the old style) and those logos were hand applied. someone just missed when applying the logo.   I wouldn’t change it.  In many collectible cultures those slight factory mistakes are worth more money.

And in this one, less.
