I really wanted to catch that show. I love Joe, I’ve seen him live most of the times he has come to Peoria, but I have to be honest I don’t listen to much of his Music. I do love listening to Gov’t Mule and Warren Haynes music and it is always in rotation. I did feel that when JB added Josh to the band he did loosen up a bit. It could just be age, it could just be the band. Also, WHERE DOES WARREN FIND THESE BASS PLAYERS ! They all have been killer and the new guy is insane.

I'm waiting for the Youtube vid that compares the pedal to someones home made Quad Cortex or Fractal settings, stating that they can't hear any difference from their digital modeller and the pedal. "It sounds exactly like a pedal modelled after a tube amp, you can't hear any difference at all. And the Fractal is a few grams lighter. So much easier to carry to a gig." -

In early 1975 I bought a brand new (1974) Fender Strat. Natural with a maple neck... just like one of Blackmore's. He was my favorite guitarist at the time. I cut grass, shoveled snow, retuned bottles, and saved for a couple years to get it. I did get to see Ritchie with Rainbow and finally with Purple during the Perfect Strangers tour. Glad he patched things up with Ian and the gang. -

This one showed up at my place this morning. I could not pass up the flame maple on Korina and ebony board. It’s a good one. -

I really liked the southern Rock Scene! Played a ton of SR at bikers bars and parties!! Good pay! Great Coke! At the parties you had to stay behind the stage. They where really fussy about that. If you weren't a member you did not mingle. They'd come back stage and talk tho. I think the best Southern Rock album ever was Marshal Tuckers "Where We All Belong" there where many, but that's my favorite! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k0xuGf6v8ELDGqAzC0VxEEef90L2ZbZd0&si=-OhRrqJ0fI1VXdU7 -

Really lovely, Greg. Bonus points for the rear cover being similar to those on early Standards. -

I was going into the 6th grade when, Live in Japan, came out. What a game changer it was for me. Believe it or not, I never learned, "Smoke on the Water." But, within a few years I quit with the organ lessons and started guitar pretty much because of Richie Blackmore. If I had known about Lord and the B3 I may have kept playing the organ but it didn't just seem as cool. Plus my Kimball didn't get that sound. Sad to see Richie (and so many others) getting old and not doing so well. It's quite painful in fact. They were our childhood idols. We wanted to be them. Now their time is up. But, they did it. I never will and it's probably for the best. I'm sure I would have been in the 27 year club. Or I'd be like a few friends who thought they were going to make it. Poured their soul into bands in the Hair Days. One did tour Europe for a few years. Now those guys are maintenance workers at a strip mall and depressed mowing down the Marlborough reds. Jeez, I must have not gotten enough REM last night. I'm feeling off. -

Total opposite for me. I hated that shit growing up, well, high school. The backwoods people, fat guts, no shirt, Rebel flags and shotguns in their trucks. Deep brow. Square head. No proper English. Backy-chewin' twang voice. Tearing up fields in their trucks. Drive inn. Always causing fights. I was at a friend's gig in a field somewhere when I was maybe 20, their band wasn't great, but they were the hired band, and a bunch of those fat-belly slobs stormed the stage, took over the instruments, and started playing some sort of redneck Southern Rock. Really pissed us off and nearly caused a ruckus. I don't remember how it ended. I may have gotten in my car and left. I severely hated it. LS, Molly, Black Foot, etc. I mean, it would make me angry. Now I like it. Weird, eh? I mean, I don't blast it from my car like they blasted it from their trucks. But if it comes on a movie score, or I hear it in the grocery, or shows up on YouTube, it's kind of nostalgic. I haven't listened to the radio in 50 years. It was shit then and, if it's still around, I'm sure it's shit now. I don't own any Southern Rock albums / CDs so, that's that. But I keep my cowboy chords up playing Freebird fairly often. -

What I didn't like about the Steve Morse era (I saw DP a few times with him in the lead guitar slot) is that Steve wouldn't play - of all things - the "Smoke on the Water" intro chords properly. I know he did that intentionally, but for some reason, I always felt that you'd want to nail a song that iconic the way it had been done originally. I am in no way implying that Steve couldn't play the part correctly, as he'd run circles around 99.9% of the guitarists out there, but his CHOOSING to play it his way to create distinction was maybe unnecessary? It was great to see those clips - thanks for posting! -

In my (seemingly) never ending quest to experience as many boutique level Japanese guitars as possible, I recently made a trade for this Provision double cut. With the headstock shape, I'm guessing it was somewhat based on a Les Paul DC, but I don't think there's a Gibby with similar specs. The body shape, IMO, is much more reminiscent of a 90s Hamer Special FM-LE, although with several differences; control layout, pickguard, crown inlays and a neck that feels like a fat '59 carve. All in all, a familiar looking guitar with some features that make it a little unique. I don't know much about Provision other than they are a very small shop (around 10 people) that focus on making custom ordered guitars by hand. And I don't know the history of this one at all. I doubt I would have bought it outright, but being able to trade into it, I'm glad I got it. It plays and sounds great with pickups that are wound into the shop to low output PAF specs that gives a great snappy tone. http://provisionguitar.com/ Anyway, given the Hamer-esque body shape, I thought I would share it here:

@lastchild is absolutely right: no disclosure of the checking whatsoever. Serious Glamor ShotsTM in the CME ad! It is not relisted on the CME site as of this morning. OTOH, it does have the case and the trussrod cover. -

Classic rock radio overplayed a lot of good music. Those songs can get... um, "tiresome" on the radio. In the context of an album they sound great.
