It has arrived. But a bit of a road bump (and I should have anticipated this) this thing requires a 250mA supply(!). That renders my humble Voodoo Labs Iso 5 obsolete, but I can run a separate One Spot temporarily. Only a few minutes with it but it’s pretty amazing so far, especially for what it cost. Suddenly, a seldom used place on the board is not taken up by just about anything. Now for a new power supply. Anyone use the CIOKS ISO?

The 67 isn't defined by just the headstock. The body near the neck is totally different carve.

I've got a small stash, but nothing huge. I do have a bunch of SED EL34 tubes, and a pair of SED 6L6GCs, but for preamp tubes, I really got on the boat too late. Also, I'm pretty sure the audiophile crowd, who pay $600 for a 3 foot RCA cable / interconnect, are the ones most responsible for hoarding and driving up the prices. One of the guys who worked at the local music shop where I take lessons had helped clean out a lot of old music shops in NYC, and many of them just kept all the discarded tubes in boxes. The stuff they found from the days when tubes were just replaced routinely was insane.

I will say, this moved from being a face-palm thread to a pretty damn cool thread.

The Orpheum show was 3/14/77 so he likely owned it by then. This was allegedly taken at the Palladium the following month.

Which brands? Morgaine? Kortmann? They build/built great copies...

This 1979 Rick 4001. For me, it was simply the best "fit" ever--ergonomics (to include weight and balance), sonic properties, "blend" capability with a guitar in a three-piece format, etc. Traded even on a Leo-era L-1000 when I was trying out a "how-many-of-this-model-can-I-acquire" experiment, and while the G & L category was interesting, I should have stuck with the original "one of each" collection guidelines I had set.

For me, bringing in is 99.99% of the time something that's a project that I then never end up doing anything with. Getting rid of probably my 1st year Ibanez RG550 in Atlantic Blue. Looked like this one. I had it with EMGs: 89/SA/89 with splits. It was played a lot for 15 years and I hadn't played it an ages. Great guitar that covered a lot of bases. Any Hamers I've gotten, I've kept figuring I could always sell those later.

With that guitar tone he could play a buzz saw, no one would notice the difference.

Perhaps it wasn't made yet... 🙄

I saw this a few days ago. Great band.

Due to the guitar & hi-fi crowd, the supply of ANOS/NOS tubes are rapidly disappearing. I have a small stash of 12ax7s of various makes that I bought years ago. Glad I did, because im not paying today’s asking prices for such.

The natural finish forces them to select the best pieces. Can't cover up minor flaws with paint.
