I got to thinking about what would a good candidate for a special run of Standards: Here is my vote: Mahogany Standard (no flame top) Sustain Block Bridge Triple Coil in the Bridge & P-90 in the neck. 5 way blade switch Ebony Board Chunky neck carve I'll chime in. After 1. my experience with the Phantom and 2. my experience with the quasi P-90 (P-Rail), I think this would be a spectacular pickup combination. +1 on the sustain block - sounds great, but my real love for the sustain block is how absolutely comfortable it is to play and how easy it is to control / mute the strings. +1 chunky neck carve - Sir Mixalot said it best: "I want 'em real thick and juicy..." Edited to add: either crowns (never happen) or dots, chrome (or better, nickel) hardware, old school creme / zebra pickups.

atquinn Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Just like this. But a Standard. And no f-holes. -Austin
Steve Haynie Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 The triple coil and blade switch would be the tough part. That would require new tooling.
bubs_42 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Just like this. But a Standard. And no f-holes. -Austin I would trade my Monaco on the FS page and cash for that guitar. I missed it and its one of my all time favorites. Its got everthing wrapped up in one guitar. As for the Standard Special Order, I've wanted a Mahogany Standard since before I joined the board. So that would be my first choice but with a Big neck, Non Chambered. I ran a thread a while back about doing an HFC guitar. It has to be a simple guitar. So my 2 cents would be. Mahongany Standard Vintage Carve Neck with Ebony Board and MOP Dots and Side markers Have you Seen the finish on the Huber Jr's that are in the PG magazine? That finish. One little detail would be the Checkered Stripe under the Hamer Logo. As for a 4 digit run. They will never be a real 4 digit and would cost as much as a real 4 digit. Just go get yourself a 4 digit. I
Devnor Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 White standard with maple neck & black boomers...a yin/yang of Feyman's Favorite.

BCR Greg Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I worked out that as a limited run 6 years ago. Here's my crappy photoshop that I sent up to Jol.... He LOVED it! He also told me they would be at least $6k list. I walked away.

Ah what the hell time for the next RS build

velorush Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 time for the next RS build That would be a scary cool guitar. Ginormous neck Fralin (noiseless, maybe) P-90 RS winged logo out on the tip of the headstock... WOW!

GaryT Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I Say bring back the Sunburst only in Korina with Shell Binding with a Fat 59 neck and Sustain Block. Even the Mahogany with a Maple Cap makes no difference, Its a Great guitar thta should be still built.

I wanted a C/O with a Special piece of wood for the top and the upcharge was pretty damn steep. I would have been very pleased just to have a Veneer Top on a piece of great sounding Mahogany.
mirrorimij Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I wouldn't mind seeing a Standard (just about any Standard) with the Futura forked headstock. One Hamer Korina Standard like that exists. I think it went to Make N Music about the same time as the original limited run came out (about 1995). I'm not sure if that one was part of the numbered limited run or not. The tooling already exists because it was used on the korina Rick Neilsen model.edited to add that I think it would be particularly bitchin on Greg's Standard/Junior concept. They could use the proper strip tuners that were used on the BCR Juniors.
