  1. Thats a tough one in a cute package! Congrats!
  2. Old Whore's Diet - Rufus Wainwright. (strange but true, funny song though).
  3. Buying a used guitar and then getting pissed off that he needs to get a set up to make the guitar play the way he wants it to, and he is surprised? I think he should buy new if he so concerned, (not Gibsons ). I almost haven't bought one used guitar that I didn't need to mess with one way or the other to fit me the way I like it. Most of them get their frets dressed, even it it's an extra cost. It's like buing a used car, there is always something to fix here and there to make it play absolutely proper. I think you should tell him that the expense is on him, unless the frets were really worn out. Some players don't care at all about some fret wear, some (like me) like them even all over the fretboard. If he buys used he should be prepared to take that extra cost. Nothing strange with that.
  4. You got it, let's order two. Perhaps they'll go for it.
  5. Check out www.backyardbabies.com for some rock guitar tones on a 335. Dregen has his guitar stuffed with old band Tshirts as a cure for feedback. I think a Newport should get you where you want to go. Killer guitars all the way!
  6. I heard that it's Zakk Wylde's new custom model from Gibson. Reliced and ready to r.a.w.k.
  7. An english band, (coming out of LA for some reason), called A. They were great musicians and had songs that sounded like a mix of mid 90's power pop together with Rush, old Genesis and DLR first solo album. Weird, I know. That is probably why they never broke through big. I absolutely love them though. Check out a video link at the bottom of this page. A info and video link. Also, a band called Young Heart Attack really kicked ASS. A mix of AC/DC and The Runaways. Loved their only album. Check them out here link to sound and vids
  8. I saw Billy Idol on MTV with Steve Stevens soloing on Rebel Yell. I went out and bought my first Hamer
  9. Ebony looks really cool. But if not taken care of properly it has a tendency to crack, which is less fun. Tonewise I don't really hear much difference either, especially on overdriven tones. I guess ebony is a rarer wood also (?) so for sake of the enviroment I prefer rosewood or maple.
  10. Or lo and behold, people are actually playing the heck out of them and refuse to sell 'cause they enjoy a great guitar.
  11. I started to answer this and when I sat down to think I came to realise I have to may LP's and CD's. It's just impossible to remember everything out of thousands of albums. But I have many artists that I love and pretty much own all their full lenght releases. My collection takes up pretty much a whole wall in the dining room, and I keep my CD's in thin plastic covers, all jewel cases are thrown out.
  12. We've had a smoking ban for two years or so. I think it's great. As an ex smoker I had a hard time going of for a beer with smokers. If they smoked I just needed a cigarette as well. If no one else smokes when I'm drinking then I do not need to either. Sometimes I just feel we are creating a really boring place to live in. When I was in my twenties I loved to go out and party, AND smoke! Are we killing all possibilities to live a rock n' roll lifestyle? Here in Sweden the government is coming down on sound levels in live situations, concerts, festivals, nightclubs etc. I have been to shows that had a volume ban. It is killing music. Rock n' roll is supposed to be loud, sweaty, dirty and smoke filled. That is the only way I want it, really. One thing I find really ironic is that you American's are banning smoking, but don't ban the possibility to buy guns. ( I just don't get it, but I am not trying to start a big argument about that. Let this be a topic about smoking. )
  13. That book was out of print here in Sweden when I wanted to buy it. I know a guy at the book publishing company that imports it and he told me they sold out the last ones in stock extremely cheap, (like 5 dollar a piece or so). And he also told me of a little bookshop in town that still would have a few copies. They had two copies left and I had to pay up like 20$ per book, I bought the other for a friend. That was a bit irritating at the time, as I just missed the sell out. But now 20 bucks for that book seems like a bargain Must be the nude picks of rick, with that carrot, that is driving up the prices.
  14. Perhaps these? They don't make 'em like they used to anymore...
  15. Some kind of mix I think. Hamer has a name for it, but I can't remember what they call it.
  16. Ditto for me! I've had to adjust them for students and customers, but never on my personals. You never had to intonate the guitars? I have never tried this on a floyd base plate, but I have done it a few times on pickup base plates when the screw holes were too big to fit standard pickup screws. (Pickups that had been directly mounted etc). Try taking some small kind of metal rod with a round base, and a hammer. Then try hit the area around the screwhole, on all sides, to make it smaller. This might take some time and Im not sure it will work as the bassplate metal might be to hard. But there is a chance that you are able to tighten the hole enough to make the screw fit again. I would try this before buying a new plate.
  17. Some great Britpop from The Charlatans Live The only one I know Mani pumpin thunder on the bass.Live at Reading 1992 How´s this for 90's psychadelia! Get down in it, chew a mushroom.
  18. Hamer's lifetime guarantee would have taken care of it if you would have been the original owner of the guitar. But if you really want it fixed a good luthier can do it. It's only cosmetical, so for most players its not a big issue.
  19. " The First Tone That Made You Say... "Whoa!" " The first tone that made med say "Whoaaa" was when the guitarrig started to feedback at rehearsal with my first band. I went "Whoaaaa - turn that mother off. It fu*ks my hearing!".
  20. My favourite Celestion is the original G12-65's from the early 80's. It's similar to the Greenback, but with a little more tightness to the bottom. A truly great sounding speaker. (I have not tried the reissues).
  21. They do PLEK'ing here too. With good results I've read. But it's rather expensive compared to getting a normal fret-dressing at my favourite luthier. He's very good and somehow I think it feels better when someone gives my guitars a little personal TLC, rather than sticking into a machine. What happens it it runs havoc?
  22. Another way to teach consumers that music, (and other intellectual property, film etc), has no value. Downloading free music (illegaly many times), free concerts etc. It's a real downward spiral for the artists. Before they where in the hands or record labels, now they are in the hands of Nike and McDonalds. Which is worse? Well, it is getting harder and harder to run independent labels. The companies living on the marginal's takes the biggest hits. Their artists might not be advertising friendly. But it sure will be a lot more self censoring if the artists need to consider what the sponsors might think. It is probably easier to say f*ck off to a record label than to your biggest sponsor. Everything gets easier to chew. Is all down to the business. Not so much booze, sex and R&R. I just want to be free, I want to get loaded.... I want to have a good time
  23. THANKS! That was massive. WIsh I could´ve been there. I almost pulled the trigger on one of those H.S. Anderson / Hohner Telecasters a few weeks ago. But what the heck, I would not have played like your royal highness anyways, so I did not bother. Edit; Wow, watched it. Goosebumps, shit pomfritt!
  24. Okay. You all caught my attention. But as Im sitting on the other side of a big bloody ocean. SOMEBODY POST A LINK!!! To where I can see this on the internet. Prince is a fav player for sure!
  25. Yeah, can someone remove that funny looking guy with the stupid shirt so we can have a better look.
