ARM OF HAMER Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 With all those unusual Hamers that has to be "DOC" letting a few go. 1 Quote
Hamerica Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Correct Billy Idol's Guitarist Mark Younger Smith (Rock The Cradle of Love). There is the purple one which shows up from time to time that Jack Frost used to own and previously owned by Mobster. Those MSY models were very cool. The Fungi seems to be growing. The Scepter Vee is pretty unique. Take a double look at those inlays... Hamerica 3 Quote

The thought of a matching pair of ferrari red Prototypes was very tempting… But I passed. 2 Quote

I'd be all over it if it was not for the Floyd Rose. 🤥 I would not pay anything over 10K for a Floyd guitar, such tone suckers. The Mark Younger Smith guitars are really cool though 1 Quote

Changing all my Floyds and Schallers. I did try that too. Might have gotten a bit better. But still not even close to the fullness of a hard tail guitar. Kahler's sound better too, if installed right. Floyd guitars work if you have massive gain, and preferably a shit load of effects in the chain boosting your signal. They still sound thin, but you get the 80's sound. There are three guys with great Floyd tone though, Eddie Van Halen (up to 1984 after that not so much) , Warren De Martini. Warren uses the big block. And Prince. Difference between these guys and me? They are some of the best players ever. 😆 1 Quote

It is thinner than a Monaco, the white tape is MOP thick inlays, I replaced the Floyd Special for a NOS "Hamer" Schaller FR and Titanium lock blocks. I also put on NOS Schaller Pearloid knobs. Keeping all original parts if I ever resell but I don't think Hamer offered FR Korean Special Trems in 92 through Hamer. It has a strange middle switch setting almost "out of phase". It doesn't sound like my 87 Chaparral Elite with separate switches out of phase. The bridge pickup is a Hamer Slammer. I have to look at the neck pickup, but it appears to be stacked. The tone is just amazing but I'm thinking of trying a JBJ or JBG in bridge if soldering isn't difficult. It has a beautiful carved thick Flame Maple bookend top. Not sure what the actual color is called. The neck joint is carved to give easy access to the 24th Frets. A few light scratches on back that I should be able to buff out. Expensive but I believe worth it if 4 were made I've seen the Silver Sparkle in the book, the White in live videos so perhaps this may be a one off. It's in excellent condition 9.5/10. Couple light dings from FR Special locking screws. Edited September 10, 2024 by Ham Rex 15 Quote
