Haven't seen this posted yet.  Says they got it from Mr Fung.

Totally in love with this.  It ain't cheap. Interesting story on it  question.  If made for the fan club  wouldn't it have a 1 of ___ on the headstock??  Having a tough time not hitting the offer button.

Thoughts??

i think they took the orders for these at an HFC open house; they might be the sustainblock bridges that were found in storage.  They didn't get an HFC stamp AFAIK and they only found 8 bridges so that's the number of guitars that were available to order. Eric from Boston ordered a matching pair in natural and cherry sunburst, and i forget who else ordered the rest.

It's a cool one-off out of the batch if the top was pulled from Jol's private stash.  With used Standard Customs going for $4k, i think that one is priced fairly considering it's one of eight and possibly the 'best' in the lot.

The two piece top and the gold bridge gives her a different appeal than the late 70s/early 80s sunbursts we use to know. I mean in a good way, it's really a beauty.

Is that reading correct, or is the portion of the caliper on the bass strings throwing it off?

It's correct if you're including the thickness of the A and D strings and the 1st fret.

The caliper is stopped by the edge of the neck/fingerboard. Can’t tell where the other side of the caliper jaw is sitting, assuming the center orphan the back of the neck.

Cut an inch or so off the end of a #2 pencil with a nice hard eraser. Cut/file a slot wide enough to fit your caliper snuggly. Not perfect but a bit better than without it.

I've been watching this one as well. It's pretty awesome but doesn't feel like it's  $5K guitar still considering the rather niche demand on this sort of thing.  I would think this is maybe $4k at top in my mind, and I would not pay that even though I think it's awesome and want to own it.  If we all agree not to buy it, we can help that price drop, right?  RIght?!

I'm confused (again). What's the purpose of doing this?

To measure neck thickness I just either remove the strings or slacken them enough to slide the caliper underneath.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

My bad Dave. Sorry, but I don't have enough hands to get a picture of it at work. Here's a shot measuring a penny. If it were a guitar neck, the pencil part will fit in between the strings so I can measure to the fretboard or to a fret without having to loosen or remove strings. I hope that helps.

It took about 10 minutes to make the gigit and so far 2 hours trying to get a picture of what it does. Duh g

Yup, I was not seeing the obvious.   That's brilliant!

Now waiting for the StewMac $50.00 version.

It will be $299, complete with the usual fat sheaf of five star reviews from real people who wondered how they ever got up in the morning through life without this particular widget 🤣

Can I ask if there were 8 or 9 made for the club, wouldn't they have been made the same year? 1999 or 2001? The one in this add is 2001.

Please chime in, but in my opinion they would have been made the same year.
