RobB Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 (edited) Clean sounds are nice. OD sounds a little ragged unless the preamp gain is all the way up. Sounds KILLER with a Bogner LaGrange. I ordered a Purple Plexi from the last Lovepedal blast. Can't wait to pair 'em up. Edited August 11, 2025 by RobB 11 1 Quote

Disturber Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 What is a "Peter Dinklage"? A friend had one of those Marshall Zakk Wylde mini stacks. It was fun to play. Quote

Stike Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 I want to gig with several mini Marshall stacks as a backline and a custom built full size Chiquita. 3 5 Quote

velorush Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 (edited) I played all through college with a guy that used nothing but one of those with a Boss EQ pedal in front. I thought it sounded amazing compared to my Bandit 65 (and it did). 🤣 ETA: his was red - really cool stuff BITD. Edited July 18, 2025 by velorush 3 Quote

specialk Posted July 19, 2025 Posted July 19, 2025 He was also in the recent remake of Snow White. And a great role in Death At A Funeral: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0795368/?ref_=nm_flmg_job_1_cdt_t_58 Quote

Jimbilly Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 my wife wants to see this group this fall, I'm ambivalent. Those stacks would be perfect, I wouldn't be surprised if they had some 1 Quote

I had one and stupidly sold it during my Soldano era. The Purple Plexi has that big, fat midrange. Once I sell my Bogner Atma/cab and Soldano SLO30, I’ll be down to the mini stack, a VickyVerb combo and a Splawn Comp 20/cab. Pedals and guitars are coming next… 1 Quote
geoff_hartwell Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 So cool!!! When I lived in a bigger place I bought both black and white versions of the 80s mini stacks. I think they look best alternating in a checkerboard pattern for obv reasons lol. (Please excuse the Changus in the foreground, it was a 50th Bday present to my Bestie.) Both of my amps are not great for me, but I love the cabinets particularly. Someone here (maybe Brooks?) swapped a speaker for a 10” Ragin Cajun and ran with a Powerblock and had some rave reviews- would be interested to hear more about that. And someone else (maybe Stike?) repurposed Marshall mini cabs as shop speakers, which I thought was a super cool idea. Did they swap speakers or use the stock cones? 🤔 Have you tried the SJ mini head with any different cabs? 2 Quote

The Marshall Lead 12 circuit is not known for its stellar tone, but it certainly sounds good enough for playing at home. 1 Quote
