zorrow Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) Playing regularly has changed my mind, I’m thinking more as a player, and less as a collector or a hoarder. That’s why, while talking to Gene @BTMN today, I felt acute symptoms of GSS —Gear Selling Syndrome, which is the opposite of GAS— and that’s why I’m here. So, there are two guitars I own, which are quite unique, but which I don’t play AT ALL. And it feels almost like a disrespect to this community keeping them in their respective cases, because I even have no plan to play them in the foreseeable future. 😬 These are the ones: So, do I let them go? 😰 IMPORTANT: They are NOT for sale, so, if you push me to list them in the FS section with their respective price tags, I might blame you later for making me doing things I really didn’t want to do, okay? 😜 Thank you! 🙏🙇♂️ Edited April 3 by zorrow Changed wording to comply with the rules 1 1 Quote
RobB Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Either sell them, or don't. Posting this tease is not SOP. What I think about selling these guitars doesn't matter one bit. You're the one who lives with the consequences. Post prices, or delete the post. 1 2 1 Quote
hamerhead Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Your call, but where will you ever find another of either? 3 1 Quote

(fucking run of the mill). thank you, I just made that up. I am thinking of selling a pedal, I am thinking of selling some parts or strings. Of course you should keep them they are special. Of course you should sell them, they would fetch top dollar. Not meaning to be harsh but... I want them both but I know I am probably not willing to pony up. Just my unneeded opinion. Carry on. 1 Quote

Now, given I think you were impolite, I will tell you that, if you feel teased, that’s your perception. You also had the choice of not replying, but you decided to do it. Are you okay? Is life treating you well? In any case, just tried to delete the topic, because I’ve been around for a loooong time and I have never had any issues with anyone here, so if this post irritates you, it’s maybe smarter for me just to avoid any trouble. I couldn’t find how to delete it though. Can anybody help me? Is @hikarateboy still the admin? Or is any expert around who can tell me how to delete the post? Thanks again! 1 Quote
mathman Posted April 3 Posted April 3 There are three dots at the top of your first post. I’m pretty sure you have an option to delete there. Quote

I tried that already. “Edit” is there, but not “Delete”. And when I click on “Edit”, it’s just editing, there’s no option to delete. 🤷🏻♂️ Quote

Nuance is difficult (for me, anyway) in posting online, and I meant no harm. I know your'e a good dude, Ionel, but posting, "sale previews", is generally discouraged on the HFC. Really, I should leave the policing to the mods and mind my own nevermind... 3 Quote

DaveH Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I really don't understand the need to delete, jmo. However, when I select 'Edit', this is what comes up for me: 1 Quote

veatch Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) At the top of the topic, right under Reply to this topic, is a moderator option. Delete is under there. It might be hard to see if you are in dark mode. Edited April 3 by veatch 2 1 Quote

hamerhead Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Let it run! It'll be interesting to see what everyone thinks. Personally, I need players. I sold a 25th LE and a 30th that were stunning guitars - best guitars I'd ever owned - but too perfect and worrisome to gig. A scratch or dent would have killed me. Couldn't do it. The new owners love them. I'm not a collector (wife disagrees) and my Shishkov is the last collector-type I have. But even that is in regular rotation. Yours are sweet but once they're gone, well...They WILL cash out handsomely and somebody will use and enjoy them both. It's a tough call but the $$$ could buy some pretty nice players. 3 Quote

That's why I sold off my 'name' (USA-made and/or collectible) guitars and amps several years back...they were desirable, but the collector 'status' started to make playing them casually less and less enjoyable, less 'fun', with more of a financial 'responsibility' for keeping them. So I got rid of those, and I now have a small gathering of quirky musical mutts that I can play and use to my heart's content, with no regrets. Edited April 3 by crunchee 4 2 Quote

kizanski Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Enough of the "thread shaming" and back to the topic at hand... 14 hours ago, zorrow said: So, there are two guitars I own, which are quite unique, but which I don’t play AT ALL. Once your head lets these thoughts or realizations in, it's hard to go back. Ask me how I know. I described my guitar hording a while back as being akin to big game trophy hunting. Hanging all of those guitars on my wall looked cool as fuck, but it was a constant reminder to me that I wasn't playing anymore, and all of those wonderful instruments hanging there collecting dust weren't helping anyone. What started out as a hope that the guitar being out of the cases and in my face would inspire me to play actually backfired miserably. Once that light bulb lit in my brain, it never went out. 4 2 Quote
PS4 FTW Posted April 3 Posted April 3 If you're on the fence, I would keep them. Especially as the market seems to be softening from where it has been the last few years. What is the white semi-hollow 1 pickup V in the second pic? 1 1 Quote
