bubs_42 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Well, what do we have to offer. Let's think for a moment. I have a 4 Digit Standard and it's not the first guitar I reach for. I have loved some of the guitars, well most of the guitars that the HFC'er think up and they are fantastic. If we could pick a current model and Twist it an some great HFC Voodoo, what would it be? It could still be a Standard not shutting it down for an option, I just think we have more to offer than a rehash of the past. I love the Mirage 1 but not the mirage body shape or the pickup choice. So when I was pondering a C/O I thought to myself "How about a Studio, with a blended heal, ebony board, just the the center of the Victory inlay's ,a Koa Top and last but not least a Sustainblock... Sounds great but what do you have, sometimes I feel I missed out on the HFC's good times of Limited runs, Hamer Factory Tours. Love this place how about makeing a new memory? WHATCH YOU GOT?
MCChris Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Monacos without the "shelf." The one on my SuperPro doesn't bother me at all visually or physically, but if Hamer could make the lower horn attach to the neck like a Talladega, I think you'd have a winner.

Really should make this standard...... HUGE difference...
veatch Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 A Mirage or Cali Ducks and runs for cover... Edit to add: With crown/boomer inlays and a single piece neck Ducking farther and running faster....
Armitage Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Every time I think of Kim Keller's set neck solid flame maple Cali with boomers... I get all warm inside...
Gabe Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 How 'bout a purple Studio with EMG's and a tremolo? Gabe

The Studio you described with a thicker body (Newport depth) and V-V-T-T layout like the Tally Pro. THAT would be a badassed MF'er.
kizanski Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 A Mirage with Telecaster pickups, upside-down Standard headstock and a Bigsby.
crunchee Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I'd like to see a Hamer 'Thunderbolt', like what Rick Nielsen has--I'm not sure if his is a Gibson or a Hamer, though (maybe he has both). Does anybody have a photo of it that they can post?
MCChris Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 A Mirage with Telecaster pickups, upside-down Standard headstock and a Bigsby. You know what it takes to make a suggestion like that?Oh wait. It's in your sig. Nevermind.
BadgerDave Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Talledega with a 6 in-line headstock (no binding) and omit the victory inlay at the 12th fret. Boomers would be a bonus, but I'm trying to be realistic.
mirrorimij Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I'd like to see a Hamer 'Thunderbolt', like what Rick Nielsen has--I'm not sure if his is a Gibson or a Hamer, though (maybe he has both). Does anybody have a photo of it that they can post? The original red "Gibson" Rick has isn't really a Gibson. He also has a Hamer Thunderbolt, i believe Gibson recently released this as a limited edition.

I hear they're occasionally available on eBay.

Anybody have any photos?
kizanski Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 You're not referring to THIS Gibson as a Ltd Ed, I hope...No, he isn't.
bubs_42 Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 Wow moving along. I do see a trend in a need for a mondern twist. I do love the blended heal and that's why I mentioned the Mirage as part of my opening post. I love the feel of the heal and you know I love the Sustainblock but a Wilky would be interesting. Keep um comming!
anotherfreak Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 This: with crowns and a sculpted heel! maybe boomerangs!
pesocaster Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 E-L-E-C-T-R-O-G-L-I-D-E !!!!!!!!!.... c'mon it's a dream guitar right?
serial Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Like THIS? Rick has two-the original Hamer (a 95) and a Japanese-made one (Fernandes IIRC) in korina. This guitar is actually one where Gibson copied Hamer. Gibson did two in 99 for NAMM, a cherry and a korina. The "original" that Rick's is patterened after was a homebuilt and featured in a UK guitar mag as a sham "missing link" Gibson. IIRC it had original Gibson parts from the 50s but that was about it. Rick borrowed it and Hamer made one for Rick from that as I understand.
atquinn Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Talladega Pro with 2 cream P90's, ebony fretboard and no fretboard markers.-Austin
jwhitcomb3 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Building on the Badgercaster:Talladega with 6-in-line headstock, no body binding, forearm bevel and belly cut.Minibuckers would be cool too.-Jonathan
cmatthes Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I'd be inclined to go with the 6-in-line Talladega myself. Double Ds and a Sustainblock. Maybe solid colors or something, you know, "Recession Friendly". Bound board w/dots, and I'd be happy! The Thunderbolt would be great, but that would also never happen (I'm pretty certain about that!). The "original" was built by Chris Lukasic in the early '90s, along with a midwest Guitar dealer, Dave Kenney (I custom-ordered my '91 Standard that Bubs42 now owns from Dave). It was made from old Korina wood and original '50s Gibson parts, and was an April Fool's Day prank in a UK Guitar Magazine. Rick borrowed it and had it out on tour, and supposedly broke the headstock and sent it to Hamer for a repair. Hamer made their own accurate version of that one in 1995. Rick ended up recording and touring with the Hamer, and it was in regular rotation for quite some time, and still shows up on the road. An HFC'er owns the original Lukasic Tbolt, and there may even be a few others floating around. The Gibson copies don't quite get the shape right and were priced out of the stratosphere, but there are at least two of them, as Serial mentioned. Hiroshi Kid made a small run of Korina Tbolts in '96, but I haven't seen any of those for sale outside of the Jpns market. Fernandes made Rick's other Korina one, but that is not a faithful copy of the original mythical guitar apart from the body shape.Despite the fact that they look unweildy, they are incredibly comfortable to play and hang perfectly from a strap. Sitting down...not so much!

I think it'd look good with a reverse Explorer/Standard headstock as well, maybe give it a Standard Custom treatment (Cherry Sunburst flame maple top, binding, fancy inlays) also. Hell, do both a plain Mahogany and a Custom treatment one!
cloakerz Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I would be happy if they would just make cali's again.
