serial Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 OK, here's one that I'm sure I'll regret, but I've absolutely decided that I prefer Kahlers over Floyds and this is my last Floyd guitar. Very early-one of the first few Hamer Firebirds made (there weren't even close to a hundred of these guitars out there in all configurations) this is an 85 with a 22 fret neck, Hum/sing/sing pickups with a 5 way select and a master volume. As far as I an aware, there is only one other FB in this configuration (a blue one). This predates the "FB" model designation and is listed in the log books as a "Reverse Bird". Robbin Crosby had a couple done first, but this came right after his. Far rarer than four digit Standards for sure and just impossibly rare in this setup. Looking to trade for something I'll use more than a Floyd, so trades or trades & cash for Gibson Historic stuff (particularly LPCustoms) other cool guits without a Floyd Rose. Not really looking at Hamer stuff unless it has a Bigsby or is a 12 string guitar (plus cash for anything else Hamer). Will sell outright as well, but would love to trade for something cool. No bolt ons unless it's vintage or 70s Antigua Fender.
Feynman Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 May I suggest that you put that back away for now, and wait until I actually have money to spend?
serial Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 It just came back from BCR with the SuperGreg setup too, I just figured I'd put it up now before I gig with it and fall in love w/it because Id probably do something like block the trem of something like that and this thing was meant to whammy,
BCR Greg Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Jesus.I just finished making that guitar play perfectly for you, you ass.

silentman Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Floyd's are no hassle unless you are changing the strings/adjusting. You have greg for that. I say keep the damn thing.
bubs_42 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Floyd's are no hassle unless you are changing the strings/adjusting. You have greg for that. I say keep the damn thing.Second that...
veatch Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 A brief sob is heard from the suburbs of Detroit...Fookin' gorgeous.
serial Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 I have decided that I just don't care for ANYTHING about Floyds. I find them annoying, so I don't even know if blocking the bridge would make me feel differently. Doesn't matter if they're "easy", etc once they're set, I don't dig them at all.
RacerX Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I now have more Floyd/Hamers than non trem Hamers I like 'em! That Bird is supercool!!!
LordOfTheThighs Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Awesome FB. Think hard about setting it loose. There's such a thing as seller's remorse.
serial Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Awesome FB. Think hard about setting it loose. There's such a thing as seller's remorse.I know, I've been over it a million times and hell, I even sold that Scotti Hill Sunburst- that thing is SICK! Again, if it has a Floyd, it just doesn't get out of the case, so it doesn't get played. I'm just jonesing hard for aCool LP Custom I guess (( or something else cool)!
guitarzandstuff Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Steve,Whats the neck carve like on this?Frank
serial Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Not as skinny depth-wise as my 86 Chap Custom, which is pretty much like most 80s Hamers I've had. There's some more meat on it, but it still has some of that "shred" wider fingerboard stuff going on. Not a club, but nothing in the 80s was.
serial Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Thanks to all who have submitted trade offers, but nothing was really what I was looking/hoping for. I need @$2500.00 to pick up what I'm looking for, so if anyone's interested in a cash deal, let me know.Still willing to do a Trade + cash my way if you have the following:-original Dean ML Standard-original Iceman-LP Custom (must be black or Ferrari Red)-Some NON-Sunburst Historic Gibsons (SGs, LP Jrs/Spcls)-Monaco III or Newport (Must have Bigsby)Otherwise, looks like a cash sale is my best way to sate my GAS.
serial Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Looks like this one will be on the way to a new home this week! Thanks to all who inquired!
BCR Greg Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
serial Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!No fear, it's going to a very good home with other well-cared for and loved guitars!
Hamerica Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Thank God, I was having night sweats about this one. Didn't have the trade bait or cash, but it didn't stop me from checking in on this one. Congrats to someone on a cool and rare Hamer.Hamerica
