murkat Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Well, we were hit with a bit of rain over the weekend. Family and i are okay, we live on a hill.GCS, were I work, is okay. No flooding, but alot of co workers are still dealing with there own personal aftermath. The "Plant", (G, USA) is flooded. toast. it is gone. From what I was told, a total loss. Henry will Have a big right off.....
cmatthes Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I was just talking to somebody about that yesterday. My Nashville counterpart lives in Franklin, so she's okay, but said that it is just so much worse in person than she's seen on the news. Did you mean that the BIG "G" factory is toast?Glad to hear that you're okay, J. We'll be thinking about all you guys down there - let us know if you need anything.
specialk Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Floods suck! Best of luck to you and yours (and everyone) down that way. Once the water goes down the real work begins. And it stinks!
Hackubus Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Glad you guys are ok. Good luck out that way, that's pretty awful.
Ethan Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I saw photos of (pretty big gear storage/cartage place) Soundcheck this morning completely submerged in water, who knows how many priceless instruments were in there, not to mention the loss of lives, homes and livelihoods of those other than musicians...http://soundchecknashville.com/
musicman Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Wow - I heard about the flooding at soundcheck a couple of days ago...but this is the first time I viewed the photos.I had some flood damage myself but it was/is minor so I consider myself very lucky as some people here lost everything.***You read about this type of thing and for whatever reason think it will never happen to you and/or the area in which you live and then it does.
Taylor Player Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Just read that all of Brad Paisley's gear for his upcoming tour was at Soundcheck and that Vince Gill's collection is in there too and he's got some pretty sweet vintage guitars.
duncans Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 In my area we've had one "500 year" event and two "100 year" events in the past 13 years. Anyone who lives near water should be expecting something like this at some point.Well Wishes go out to all involved.
ZR Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Wow, much worse than I thought. Good luck to all in recovering/getting your lives back together.
Paul Hamer Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Well, we were hit with a bit of rain over the weekend. Family and i are okay, we live on a hill.GCS, were I work, is okay. Henry will Have a big right off.....Anyone hear if George Gruhn's store got hit in the flood? Paul Hamer
BubbaVO Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 That is horrible! Positive thoughts and prayers headed to Nashville.
Taylor Player Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Anyone hear if George Gruhn's store got hit in the flood? Paul Hamer Last I heard as of a couple of days ago, no. Grand 'Ol Opry got hit bad though:
cmatthes Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Anyone hear if George Gruhn's store got hit in the flood? Paul Hamer Last I heard as of a couple of days ago, no. Grand 'Ol Opry got hit bad though: Wow. That Opry picture is scary. From what I heard from a client this AM, Gruhn's was spared (his Son and Daughter are at Vanderbilt and checked that out specifically for him). They were a few blocks above the line from what I understand. Really sad - hope things get better for the folks down there soon.
Steve Haynie Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 This weather report explains a lot about the situation.

Skynard, Gill, etc., the facility is gone, that means all there instruments in storage, all staging, all amps, all etc. is toast. Rumor is George Gruhn & Joe Glazer are teaming up to "service" those Artists in lost/ need of.... I see a diff take on it thou....
Jason01 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Here's some soundcheck pictures http://soundchecknashville.com/wordpress/
Hamer of the gods Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Kenny Chesney's gear got it too: Love the Saints model Schecter, I have one of those too!
Ted Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Tragedy seems to play no favorites. I hope with time the emotional damage will heal.
ZR Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Man, that Grand Ol' Opry pic makes me depressed and I'm not even a huge fan. It's such an American thing and I know it means so much to others. Just sad. Looks like it'll be a big loss of music history and awesome gear...
yngwie308 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Also Keith Urban got wiped out gear wise and he has/had some rare guitars. Hopefully Brad's Trainwrecks can be ressurected, it was strange how the Nashville thing , with loss of life, was second page news to the idiot NY bomber deal for quite some time, ect.. Prayers to all in this major area of US culture.. yngwie308
