Bought this on the cheap from a fellow HFC'r for me as a "project". Yeah, thats what I need, a "project"...

So, on my self proclaimed day off, what do I do......

After some stripper applications, I am flat boarding the top level.

Into it for a couple of hours. I'm thinking another 3/32's to go with 80 grit.

Very nice!

Your shop gives me inspiration to clean up the bench and tools I have in my garage. Unfortunately it's a catch-22. Until it's clean there is very little rooom to work in which makes it much harder to work on cleaning it up. It's almost like I need to rent one of those POD temporary storage boxes. :P

Usually, my wife is master in the shop. :P

Most certainly :P

Most leveling is done, as far as i can take it without being to "thinned out".

So, My plan is......

It is a "Flying V"

Kinda of a WWII P51 motif...

With recessed Aluminum pickguard, headstock lam,

strips of here and there, rivets, and bound in! B)

One P-90, wrap tailpiece....

Cool?

Nice grain under there. Glad for the pics of stripping it. I'd try to keep it "au natural", if possible.

Nice stuff!

Lessee... table leg on the lathe going into the controls cavity of the V. Hmm.... New output jack?

Hmm.... New output jack?

Yes. since the body is more 58 style than 67,

I want to locate it traditional style on the lower wing.

Just not right at stock location.

So, kinda Jr V, right?

The body is about as thin as an SG with all the leveling.

A more radical bevel to the sides (1/4").

Now being sealed an top coated pior to next steps.

the grain is starting to level out, Senwood is a lot like Ash, but a tone like Alder (not scooped). Started the Pickguard mock up.

Cool! I really like the shape.

A cool alternative might have been taking a random cut through the middle of the sign and using the other side.
