murkat Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Bought this on the cheap from a fellow HFC'r for me as a "project". Yeah, thats what I need, a "project"... So, on my self proclaimed day off, what do I do...... After some stripper applications, I am flat boarding the top level. Into it for a couple of hours. I'm thinking another 3/32's to go with 80 grit. Something to plug into in the shop.... Shop shot Be safe, have an enjoyable Memorial weekend! J
crunchee Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Have a fun and safe Memorial Day, Murcat! VERY cool shop, I'd like one of those, myself!
HAMERMAN Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Very nice! Your shop gives me inspiration to clean up the bench and tools I have in my garage. Unfortunately it's a catch-22. Until it's clean there is very little rooom to work in which makes it much harder to work on cleaning it up. It's almost like I need to rent one of those POD temporary storage boxes.
Scottcrud Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 MKIII? Or MKII? Is that the Ibanez Rocket Roll Weed V?
murkat Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 MK III yup, the Vweed http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.p...ibanez&st=0
murkat Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 Most certainly Most leveling is done, as far as i can take it without being to "thinned out". So, My plan is...... It is a "Flying V" Kinda of a WWII P51 motif... With recessed Aluminum pickguard, headstock lam, strips of here and there, rivets, and bound in! One P-90, wrap tailpiece.... Cool?
specialk Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Nice grain under there. Glad for the pics of stripping it. I'd try to keep it "au natural", if possible.

specialk Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Nice stuff!Lessee... table leg on the lathe going into the controls cavity of the V. Hmm.... New output jack?
murkat Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 Hmm.... New output jack? Yes. since the body is more 58 style than 67, I want to locate it traditional style on the lower wing.Just not right at stock location.
elduave Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Hopefully that Boogie made it through my visit.
FiguredMaple Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I'm looking forward to seeing photos of this one finished.
murkat Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 The body is about as thin as an SG with all the leveling. A more radical bevel to the sides (1/4"). Now being sealed an top coated pior to next steps.
murkat Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 the grain is starting to level out, Senwood is a lot like Ash, but a tone like Alder (not scooped). Started the Pickguard mock up.
velorush Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Cool! I really like the shape. A cool alternative might have been taking a random cut through the middle of the sign and using the other side.
