HamStd Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Scary, just scary.... Did a chipmunk do the routing for the trem and pickup?http://cgi.ebay.com/Project-1983-Hamer-USA...=item5199f79d4cYou would think the case would be worth the most, but I hate to think how bad the "mildew" smell is on this one. Some guitars were just never made to have and should never have a pickguard. Was the guy standing on his head when he looked at a picture of a Gibson explorer????????Peter
cmatthes Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Too funny! You know that white plastic plate on the front? See, you can pull it off, right? Then you know what? You put your WEEEEED in there!
cloakerz Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 painful thing to happen to a USA hamer! I bought a vintage s that was a lot worse than that.
tbonesullivan Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Hmm... we'll see how high it goes. I bet Greg could make it right, or R/S guitar works. I've seen both clean up stupid routing with excellent results.I woul guess however that it will always require some kind of pickguard. Man why do people do stuff like that? Sure mod away, but at least don't destroy it.
Bloozguy Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Scary, just scary.... Did a chipmunk do the routing for the trem and pickup? Either a chipmunk or a Dremel tool with copious amounts of LSD... I just wonder what it looks like under the "pickguard"
carfish7 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 painful thing to happen to a USA hamer! I bought a vintage s that was a lot worse than that.Yes, but it at least retained its dignity and still kicks all kinds of ass!Polka dots, eh? I'll bet Buddy Guy is none too pleased either..........
tbonesullivan Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 at least, according to the seller, the polka dots are stickers, so with some naptha and patience they could be removed. The other issues.... oy.
velorush Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 BCRGreg can fix it.No doubt.[Just for my own consideration] A rhetorical question: what's an '83 Blitz (in great condition) worth?
Submariner85 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I was looking at the guy's other items for sale. Is that stuff really worth that much money?
crunchee Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 [Just for my own consideration] A rhetorical question: what's an '83 Blitz (in great condition) worth? There was a similar one on Ebay in Ferrari Red a few months ago, it went for about $500 if memory serves me correct. It had a Sustain Block trem and was in a Washburn case, and was in a MUCH better condition than this one--no backyard boogering that I remember. Edited to add: Here's one...autographed, too! http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Blitz-Red-Electr...=item3a67e2b1cf Anybody know who the previous (late) owner might have been? Another one, a bit pricier: http://cgi.ebay.com/1983-Hamer-Blitz-rarel...=item4aaca4eedd
edgar_allan_poe Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Hmm... we'll see how high it goes. I bet Greg could make it right, or R/S guitar works. I've seen both clean up stupid routing with excellent results.True but as others have already pointed out, it isn't worth it. This is a Blitz and not a Standard. A clean Blitz goes for around $500. I would bet any money that the cost of restoration on this would be in excess of that. Too bad because a Blitz is actually a pretty nice guitar.
cmatthes Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 That guitar has "You'll lose a ton of money on this!" written all over it.
cynic Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 That guitar has "You'll lose a ton of money on this!" written all over it.The seller is about as delusional as they come......a reserve? Seriously?
morningstar Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 WTF is with the b string tuner...Is it caddywumpus to the world or is it just me?Greggy can fix the hack jobs.A Stike job would complete the fantasy. Paper dots on a guitar?????? Eek.morningstar
