tomteriffic Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Apparently this one, because I can't seem to get anyone to show any interest in it whatsoever, even after being on the market for several months. ya know, the prototypes upper horn isn't too gumby looking. that one would prolly look badass w/o the pickguard. are there unsighly routes under there? maybe a see thru plexi guard would help. maybe its just me, but pickguards scream "cheap guitar", and the prototype doesn't actually need one (rear routed controls, & pups mounted in rings). Like this? Funny thing - it is the very same guitar! Yup. It has had a tort and a white pearloid guard before too. I thought it looked great with the clear guard.
Steve Haynie Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 For all the complaining, if you try a Scarab bass you will dig it. They are light and comfortable to play.
Jason01 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Eclipse for me, that lower horn just looks like it never fully developed
Shark Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 The B4A/B12A bass is so ugly that it's cool.Cmon those i give a double cool ;-)
David B Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Thats it....I'm starting a scarab fan club! Who's with me! C'mon folks...anyone?.... Helloooo....is this thing on??I like the Scarab just fine. The Paul Stanley one was killer. The ugliest might be the Mirage.
hamerhead Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 There's something about the horn spacing on a Newport that makes it look odd to me. Not so much ugly, but odd. The Phantom doesn't really blow my dress up. And the Rick Neilson model thing - that is just AFU.
svl Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I used to share in the Proto/Phantom hating, but have grown to absolutely love the beasties.IMO, paddle headstocks FTW on any geet, especially the Vector. If I had to be a bully, I guess I'd smack the Eclipse around a bit. It just looks... cheap (ask me again in 30 years if this opinion holds true, 'cause it's exactly what I said in the '80s when the Proto came out).
RichRS6 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (In a pathetic and obvious attempt to try to keep the prices down)I'm going to have to say any Hamer from 1976 to 1980 especially the Standards and Sunbursts with crown inlays are the most repulsive Hamers ever.Any tasteless poor soul who has one of these disgusting guitars they now want to get rid of quickly please pm me..........................

Hey, I can't see you guys suffering an ugliest guitar. Treefiddy and you are relieved. Send it over the pond. It could still arrive until XMas.
zenmindbeginner Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Thats it....I'm starting a scarab fan club! Who's with me! C'mon folks...anyone?.... Helloooo....is this thing on?? You had me at Scarab Fan Club...
dhuber Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Apparently this one, because I can't seem to get anyone to show any interest in it whatsoever, even after being on the market for several months. Not ugly at all. Is this an Eclipse? Looks like it has the SG thing going on. I think I'd prefer a traditional hum-bucker in the bridge though. I definitely like to play it! I also like the double neck Hamer above. These two guitars don't belong on this page IMHO.
crunchee Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 And the Rick Neilson model thing - that is just AFU. You mean the Futura body shape? +1 on that. The waist is too damn skinny, the body shape is really out of whack, IMHO. It looks like a cartoon version of a Explorer (yes, I know that Gibson's Futura design was originally out first before their Explorer). Even if it's originally a Gibson design, it's still fugly. Proportionally, the Explorer/Standard shape is much more pleasing to me.
HSB0531 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Could this be the motivation for the Scarab's lower body?
Cary Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Scarab. Hands down.Every time I see one, I hear Nigel Tufnel's voice: "Would you be holding this?"
