bubs_42 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 But damn, I can't afford it.http://www.soldano.com/products/guitar-amplifiers/hot-rod-25/
Bennyboy-UK Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I anticipate that this would be a rather good amplifier
bubs_42 Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 I'll guess that that will never happen. But you may see the Jet City Version of this amp some time soon.
crunchee Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Here's something for under $200 (no affiliation):http://davesguitar.com/products/jet-city/20-head-recent/
cynic Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I'll guess that that will never happen. But you may see the Jet City Version of this amp some time soon. The only Jet City amp I've played is the PicoValve and it's sterile and lifeless. I understand there are some people modding them to be what they should have been to start with, but if it's any indication of their line as it leaves the factory I'm not interested.
MCChris Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 25 watts for 25 years. I can see the marketing value.
bubs_42 Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 I had a couple of Atomic 16's and was trying to get that HR Sound out of it. And if you wanted the Higher Gain or Country Clean those amps will get you there. It was like driving a Ferrari though, you could pull it out of the garage slowly but if you wanted the thrills you better put the pedal to the floor. One thing is for sure Soldano doesn't make any bulls##t toy amps.
Armitage Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Ha! I've been asking Bill to make up a low wattage high gain amp for 20 years and he's always said there was no market, and I was a fool to think so.My argument was always people at home or in the studio don't need a hundred watt head but still want great sound, and many could afford top of the line stuff if it sounded great! Their argument was always "it doesn't cost much more to make a 100 watt head then a 50 watter, but people expect a 50 to cost half as much as a 100 and get pissed when it cost about the same. They certainly won't pay the big bucks for a small amp!"Heck 25 watts is still going to be really really loud... I'd rather it had a stereo 10 watt amp to plug in my G-Force...
bruce919 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Nice!!! would be great to get a 1x12 combo of that one.Tone reportS please

I am actually thinking of doing it. I have a couple of speaker cabs laying around so I wouldn't have to by the ext cab off the bat.Ha! They would mod out an Atomic 16 with extra gain and beef if I wanted but a 50 watter in that format was not going to happen. The 25 watt is perfect for just about anything. This is the Weekend Warrior!
django49 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Shoot....That's only $90 per watt!Guess I will have to pass.
bubs_42 Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 The head with a verticle 2x12 would look killer. Hell it would fit under my work bench.
Never2Late Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Is it me, or does this thing seem too expensive? I thought this already existed in the 44?
bubs_42 Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Nope that is the Atomic 16 Format. It is a higher wattage 16 basicly. Look at any other Boutiuqe company out there such as Soldano and price compare. They are in the ballpark. This is basicly "Hey you wanted it, here you go!" I have requested a 1x12 combo so I guess we will see.
MCChris Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Is it me, or does this thing seem too expensive? I thought this already existed in the 44?If it's too expensive, retailers will blow them out at cost. Time will tell.Without the hook to Soldano's 25th anniversary, I doubt this amp even gets made in the first place.

Anyway back to this amp. It seems since its small everyone is considering it a Lunch Box Amp, this is no toy but to intertain myself we can take a look at its peers in the same price range.http://www.ebay.com/sch/Electric-/10171/i.html?LH_ItemCondition=1000&_pgn=6&_skc=250&rt=nc
sirDaniel Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I guess in that case a MESA short head is a lunchbox..almost
