Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing?

Nice spot.

At that price its almost worth buying just for the case !

Damn those 80's hair bands and their dive bombing antics.

Why don't these ever show up near me !

That's as close to FREE as you'll ever get for a four digit, regardless of condition!

If I had the cash to immediately send this to Hartford I'd already be in the car to pick this up.

ETA: Dot spacing at the 12th is odd for one that early isn't it?

Okay, maybe I wouldn't be in my car already, but I'd certainly be on the phone :)

If I were anywhere near there, you'd probably have seen a NGD instead of this post. Unfortunately, MA to AZ is quite a drive.

Got to be salvageable, got to be worth it. I missed out on an old sustain block vector, that was about the same price this side of the pond...it was a smelly wreck. So prob better off without it.

Go get it man I'll give you 350 for it !

A friend of mine (who does know a bit about guitars, but is not a Hamer nut, though he MAY still have my former Mirage II) is in Phoenix. I am guessing he would be pretty reluctant to make a (probably) 4 hour round trip. Taking a half day off probably messes up his golf plans some. :)

I am not a good judge of merits of the older stuff, let alone the rehab. If anyone is interested enough to want to try to make it worth Dan's while, I can try to put you in touch.

Because the Standards were made separately from the Sunbursts (sub-contractors involved in wood-working in 1979) it is possible that Hamer moved to the narrower spacing earlier with the Standards, only moving to this spacing when they did the wood-work for the Sunbursts (and Specials by the time this happened). Also Schaller machines - 0227 is from later in 79 than you might think, although I can't quite recall the exact dates.

Or possibly he got the number wrong.

Am I missing something? It's just a bad refret, isn't it? The area by the body look legit to me.

Why would someone put a new fretboard on?

I want to wedge my face in a chick's massive rack and play "hide the Italian"

So what'd I win?

Maybe they had custom inlays made and wanted to use them...oops.

#0227 (if that number is correct) would probably have the wider octave dots. The closer dots started on production Specials/Sunbursts in 1980 with the move to AH. I owned #0225 and it had the wide octave dots.

I'll have to dig through my stuff to see if I can tell approximately when the change happened on Standards.

Yes, I agree the number is probably wrong. I now vaguely remember seeing a high two hundreds with wide dots.

But never say never with these details......................

Indeed-absolutely no absolutes with Hamer.
