wil50n Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 1977 Sunburst which I bought in 1986. Still my baby.
Cary Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 cruise2.jpg I bought this Hamer used in '96 or so. I still have it. It is a '95. Too lazy to post a pic, but that is the same as my first - a '96 Blue Cruise I bought new in July 1997, IIRC. I had always liked Hamers, and finding this place around the same time (96 or 97) and finding my Cruise hanging in shop kind of sealed it for me. It's still my favorite bass out of the 10 basses I have.
cmatthes Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 A little! Actually, the Tobacco Sunburst one in that pic belonged to Serial - I still have that Cherry Sunburst one, but it looks a little different these days. We bought those at the same time from proceeds from slave labor at our local McD's in high school. Twenty-five years after that pic was taken, that one Les Paul is the only one still kicking around.
conorb Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 hi everyone ,Im a new member this is my 1st post , and a pic of my first hamer . actually both of my first hamers , as the 1960 tv pictured I bought from Paul Hamer & Jol Danzig at their store Northern Prairie music in wilmette Il around 1974. they were building one guitar at a time back then with no name on the head. the 60 was pauls personal gtr & he was reluctant to sell it . however I could not afford the 54 gold top , the 57 gold top or the 59 flying v he had at that time ( he was asking 1400, 1800 , & 2000 respectively at that time ) . and so I talk him into selling it for 400. looks alot like a hamer special & the body of the newport ! thought maybe you would enjoy this little side note to hamer history. the newport is a 2006 I bought used about a yr ago, & its my new fav. cool site!Winner, winner, chicken dinner.Wow, really cool story. Keep the pictures coming.conorb
conorb Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 My first Hamer was this '94 Daytona. It's also the first guitar I ever bought and yes I still have it. conorb

Gitslide Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Been drinking the kool aid a bit longer than most. Bought this new in '79 and I still have it. Still think about selling it 'cuz I prefer my newer Hamers, but I have not got off the fence yet! ">http://
belgian Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I like the way the LPC looks now. Definitely! Who are those jackoffs? Looking at the strap in the back - that must be Elduave over there !
senmen Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Guys, well I have always been into Hamer. I first met Paul beginning of the 80ies at the german Musik Messe Fair in Frankfurt. I got a checkerboard strap back then and one of the small checkerboard Standard lapel pins from Paul and have never owned a Hamer until last year. I still do have the old checker strap.... So last year I bought my first 12 String Bass, see picture. It was a cool bass, but I didn't get used to the short scale that much and soon sold it and got me that black Standard 12.....and am finally infected after that long time with the Hamer bug...... Anyone got any Standard Basses for sale? :-) Greetz Oliver I like the Standard Bass Very minimalistic. Hey James, thank you very much. Yep, and it sounds really great..... I have some questions rgdg your Standard Basses, could you send me an email to: [email protected] Thank you!
belgian Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Thanks for this topic - got to clean and play this neglected beauty again !
gorch Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Lower entry level with a MIK Standard. Pimped to Strat tone over time to bootlick the huge amount of alder.
Nuclear Wessel Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Purchased NOS in '94 or '95. I had been playing Treker, BC Rich NJ series, and Washburn guitars, and decided it was time to get a serious guitar. I'd had GAS for a Hamer ever since the late 70's. The store I bought this at had a few more that I should have grabbed. Stragglers that didn't sell because they didn't have boomerangs, black hardware or fancy finishes. A candy apple red Blitz with chrome hardware, a candy green Chapparal with rosewood board and TOM fixed bridge, and a candy apple red Cruise bass. At some point I'm sure they blew them out really cheap. I think I visited the store again and the Cruise bass was the only one still there. It had been marked way down. I thought about it for a few days, decided to go back for it, but it had been sold. I still have this Chapp.

carfish7 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Here is mine in the grubby mitts of "The Jaffer" at HFC 10. I bought it at Knut Koupee' in Minneapolis in about 1989, sold it to my bandmate The Heej in the mid 90', and he passed it to Jaffer shortly after that. I still get visitation so that is cool Also cool is the fact that it was once part of Andre Cymone's arsenal and still carries some cool cartage and ID stickers on the case from tours and sessions. Love me some first-gen Cruise.....
