I'd hit that If I could move my Budda. Hell I'd cut a deal on that Budda to move it for that guitar. I believe its actually BCR Burst and not Dark Burst.

Guys - thanks for the announcement. It's my guitar. I was just going to post the ad here too, but you beat me to it.

Regarding the finish...I believe it was once called "BCR Burst" as you mentioned bubs, but for some reason, it reads "'59 Darkburst" on the custom order certificate from Hamer. Im sure there's a story there.

I've had some trade interest on TGP so far, but cash is king for me right now so it's still available. Please feel free to message me here or through TGP if you're interested.

from the TGP posting

FS: 2004 Hamer Monaco Elite Chambered
This is a one of a kind flame maple top custom ordered Hamer Monaco Elite I ordered in 2004. The custom features are: chambered mahogany body, a sustain block bridge, and vintage darkburst finish. Lollar Imperial Pickups were professionally installed. I also switched the tuner buttons to pearl; the original chrome buttons will be included. The back is finished in cognac. The condition is excellent - not a scratch or ding anywhere.

$1,500 pickup (I will drive ~ 1 hour from Baltimore to meet you for pickup) or $1,650 shipped to the continental US. OHSC is included.

Worth the drive to Charm City for a Natty Boh, and either a Crabcake or a Coal Race Beef Sammish.

Nice price too, dammit. If not for a prior commitment..........I mean, how many Sustain Block Elites are out there, anyways? Can't be many.

Since it's sold I'd like to ask what is the allure of the sustain block? How would it affect the tone? G Man noted that on my Vector it made it feel like playing a 25.5 scale.

Turn in your Hamer card.

NO WAY does it have that effect. What is adds is SNAP and a Brightness. I'm not that much of a fan of it on Maple Topped Guitars and some have C/O Hamers with Sustainblocks, Ebony and a Maple Top with poor results. I shouldn't say poor but they now have REALLY BRIGHT Guitars. On an all Mahogany Guitar it really works great.

I'd have to A/B identical guitars with sustainblock versus TOM but I can definitely say it adds adjustability. I FEEL like it adds a little twanginess, a little zing. But it may just be groupthink.

I knew I was going to draw heat. Does this mean I'm banned or banished?

I'm still here and I've been an outspoken non-fan of sustain block bridges, as the two guitars I had with them were underwhelming. Probably because twang and zing are not something I look for in a set-neck guitar, and the sustain block definitely adds those qualities to a guitar's sound. With older Hamers you can tame that by rolling back the tone control to about seven and defeating the treble boost.

However, sustain blocks were something original that Hamer brought to the table and really should have remained their primary non-trem bridge IMO.

I'll say that was close...I had the "I'll take it" message loaded in the box and was a finger tap away on the left mouse button.

I liked the guitar but a Monaco Elite IMHO does not benifit from the SB. The Superpro on the other hand would be awsome.

I did not know either as I've never played a guitar with the sustain block. I'm not a big fan of the TOM especially on my Les Paul. The low E string comes off of the back of the saddle and bends again over the back of the bridge. The low E is close to the back of the bridge on my Hamer's but nowhere as bad as the Les Paul.

Another dislike of the TOM is the issue of the back stop coming off when changing strings.

If the Sustain Block causes twang and zing I'd not be a fan of that either on my Studio or Artist.
