I showed these pics to my wife last night and she said, "It's like watching a Stradivarius being built. I didn't know anyone still made instruments that way." (She has a custom-made cello, so she is not instrument-blind.)

I told her my MotorAve was built that way - Mark Fuqua is a one-man shop and does great work - but that yeah, we were going to have a very special instrument in the house.

I guess I didn't realize that the headstocks were going to be bound. I just thought it was the bodies or is that an ordered option? I'm cool without but it would look very sporty with.

As Bubs posted above.

Oh, it is a first-round bonus as well! :)

I appreciate the old school craftsmanship Mike is putting into these guitars and his company. I push Lil Dawg Amps for the same reasons. Incredible quality from a man dedicated to his craft, bringing you what you simply cannot get anywhere else at such an affordable price....handmade in the USA. Sounds like what Mike is doing.....

Yes, Gene. Mike made some upcharge options available for the Ultimate run:

Yeah...we agreed to scrap that idea!

Other reasons. More about the structural integrity of the neck joint.

Not doing anything out of spec on the first run though.

What am I looking at here?

The scrap quilt has a bit of the "special secret juice" that really brings out the quilt.
