polara Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I showed these pics to my wife last night and she said, "It's like watching a Stradivarius being built. I didn't know anyone still made instruments that way." (She has a custom-made cello, so she is not instrument-blind.)I told her my MotorAve was built that way - Mark Fuqua is a one-man shop and does great work - but that yeah, we were going to have a very special instrument in the house.
BTMN Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I guess I didn't realize that the headstocks were going to be bound. I just thought it was the bodies or is that an ordered option? I'm cool without but it would look very sporty with. As Bubs posted above.
bubs_42 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 It's an option Gene, you just have to ask for it. Lets call it a bonus of being in the second round.
Jakeboy Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Oh, it is a first-round bonus as well! I appreciate the old school craftsmanship Mike is putting into these guitars and his company. I push Lil Dawg Amps for the same reasons. Incredible quality from a man dedicated to his craft, bringing you what you simply cannot get anywhere else at such an affordable price....handmade in the USA. Sounds like what Mike is doing.....

bubs_42 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Too bad... Just because of sourcing the rings or esthetic reasons?
cmatthes Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Other reasons. More about the structural integrity of the neck joint.
