hamerhead Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 http://newjersey.craigslist.org/msg/4855850240.htmlGood price.
Hfan Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Damn, 1/2 hr from me. last local Hamer I found here is now with me (thanks Rugby). Is it basically a Korina Special made with one pickup and a stop tail? I have a great 93 P90 Special with Wolfetones already. Can't find any completed deals on e bay.. I know Specials go for less than that..
kizanski Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Yeah. That's a home run can't miss guitar (assuming the condition is as described).Run, don't walk, and grab it.
Hfan Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Looked at the Hamer site..it has a Tonepros stop tail..is it intonatable? I've never had (or played) a Korina guitar, a jr or a stop tail before so right there I'm curious. Hearing the price is ludicrous does not help the GAS either. What do these things go for typically? I googled a little they get a lot of love. Can't find any prices to compare with though. Is the dog ear Duncan P90 like the hot Duncans I had in my 93 Special? Edit..e mailed the seller..damn GAS Edit 2: This pic is from the Hamer site..the seller's has a different bridge..maybe a pig nose or something?
cmatthes Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 These normally sell for hundreds higher.TOTALLY different guitar from the '90s Specials.
Hfan Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Thanks for the feedback, he is firm on the price, says it is in good shape. I have been in downsize mode for a while during which i have added about four guitars and an amp and have sold nothing. I am out of room..so why is this tempting me? I would even probably want to change the pickup if it's like those hot Duncans I had.. damn GAS. Someone buy it already. Tbones: you see this one? Not too far away..
hamerhead Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 Downsizing's over-rated. Grab it and give it a go. The worst that could happen is you make a couple bucks on it.If I didn't have one already....
Hfan Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Enablers! What about the bridge? Stock? Not like the one on the Hamer site, maybe better as it looks intonatable maybe?I need to have another kid so I'll have another bed in the house to stash guitars under.
Studio Custom Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 around 950 USD, 1000 USDSo there's no money in flipping it.
Jakeboy Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 You will make money if you flip it....however, if you buy it, you won't WANT to flip it. Jol's description on the Hamer site calling this Top-Fueled Dragsters is apt. These things just rock. Gigging mine Saturday.
Never2Late Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 around 950 USD, 1000 USDAdd another $600, I think....
hamer_sunburst Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 that price is a steal! If I was local, I'd run for it!
ghamerinfrance Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 around 950 USD, 1000 USD Add another $600, I think.... No I really found good deals around 1000 and even a BCR one for less than 700 -this was a badass deal Member here among us.....
kizanski Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Yeah, we've all found great deals and steals over the years, but that is not the going rate for this instrument.
Hfan Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 So Korina Jr vs my 93 Special...what more would the Korina Jr bring me? Not a lot out there on this model that I've been able to find... And I think that is a pig tail bridge:
topekatj Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Also, it's an early example w/ the keystone tuners. Some of the Jrs. have one piece bodies; this one appears to be a 2 piece-er. An overwound Lollar sounds great in these....What sort of American made Jr. or korina can you buy elsewhere for <$1 K? If I wasn't already covered I'd go for it.
django49 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 FWIW, I recently offered up mine to a member here at the "just cover my cost" of a net of $1300. (Bought here a couple years ago, with upgraded pickup and hardware AND all the original parts in the case). None of that "8 out of 10" stuff.I am glad he decided NOT to jump on it. I am going to rethink this. If anyone can get their hands on that one, they should be very happy. My reason for selling is (WAS) that I also have a Huber Jr. The latter is (of course) at a much higher price point. Curly mahogany, BRW board, p/p to tap the bridge. Not quite the same to be sure. A longer scale, for one. But I played the Hamer over the weekend at rehearsal and was floored all over again. Not entirely sure that the Huber is the better of the two. I need to focus my selling somewhere else.Again, someone needs to snatch that one up!
Hfan Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I may be getting close..don't have much info on these though.. are they the same body size as an earlier P90 Special? An earlier model with keystone tuners is desirable?
