bubs_42 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Yes and no, they have a distinct tone and if that is not what you are seeking then is not going to matter. Looks pretty sweet though!
Boomerang~Junkie Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 According to Mike, Ultimate #44 shipped out today! I'll be letting you guys know how #44 plays with a SB in a matter of days - probably by the weekend!
Boomerang~Junkie Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 We couldn't be home today for delivery of Ultimate #44 and had to re-route the package to a nearby FedEx store so they could hold it to pickup on Saturday. I specifically asked the CS rep if it could be delivered and picked up on Saturday and she said, "Yes. Of course". Now they are saying it won't get to that store until Monday. THIS WAITING IS KILLING ME. But life is still awesome!
django49 Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Gotta hate that! When the "Holy Grail" of matching custom order Hamer Talladegas were in bound, UPS scheduled a FOUR DAY WEEKEND, so they sat somewhere from Thursday afternoon until Tuesday, in the middle of winter, while I KNEW they were only 3 miles away. Damn UPS store was locked up like Ft Knox.....
Boomerang~Junkie Posted May 1, 2016 Author Posted May 1, 2016 I was able to pickup Ultimate #44 about an hour ago. It is now home. A few initial comments: Mike - Thank you for expanding your initial "first run" limit to include the rest of us knotheads. No offense, but "Ultimate" does not adequately describe this guitar masterpiece that Mike has so painstakingly crafted. Ultimate #44 is truly flawless in every way. Catalog cover, NAMM perfect. It was still largely in tune. The unplugged resonance is unusually broad. The cases are incredibly nice and classy. Perfect fitment. It is exactly what I wanted in finish, neck profile, frets everything. I mean everything. My wife even uttered, "Oh wow!" When I opened the case. In a world full of disappointments from failed expectations and now under-delivering being more the norm than not, Mike has exceded all of my expectations. And they were quite high. This was worth every second of the wait. I'll post photos and a detailed report a bit later. I'm still processing it all. I've said it before on this forum and I'll say it again, we're watching history being made right before our very eyes.
ptm1diver Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Congrats!!! I'm #47 and mine is still a few months away I believe. I've seen a few pictures in the raw and it will be incredible. If all goes as planned, I want to fly up and bring it home with me. Southwest will let me purchase a seat for it. Yes, a seat. I did that to bring a guitar home from Florida. Enjoy and take care. Paul
Jakeboy Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Your initial review is spot-on and I am certain one that is easily echoed by all those who have received Ultimates. You are so right. In a world fraught with product disappointment, Shishkov has delivered guitars over and over that exceed our expectations. Now post us some pics!

kenjones Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Is anyone else wondering when we are going to get to see a photo of the entire guitar?

Boomerang~Junkie Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 This guitar ~ the overall craftsmanship, fit and finish is absolutely FLAWLESS. The neck is fuller (but not too big) and exactly what I wanted. Color and finish is DEAD ON. I can't better articulate any new comments about the tone and playability that haven't already been said here by other members. This is as high a quality electric guitar as you will ever play - period. I doubt I'll ever out play this guitar. But I'm sure the heck going to make a run at it! Note: There are some dust and fingerprints that show up in my crappy photos, because the finish is literally like a damn mirror. I used the natural morning light outside, but these photos still do not do justice to the actual depth of the finish - the flame is amazing. Its hard to believe this is MY guitar. Yes, you smile every time you open the case. That is absolutely true. Matching headstock in TSB flamey goodness. The flame changes with the angle of viewing. This case is one of the nicest cases I ever seen, sturdy as can be and it fits the Ultimate like a glove. Classy touch there Mike! Sustain Block love . . . . . Flames that look five inches deep and change from every angle. Tuner perfection. No surprise, the back grain on the single slab of Hog is nuts too. That weird line on the right (upper bout) isn't in the wood, its a reflection of the case or something. Of course, all of the access panels, cuts and fitment are dead on. Look at the neck joint blend and burst - wow. That's the sun reflecting on the neck joint - not a camera flash. That's how smooth Mike has got the finish. Beautiful neck grain. Blessed to be here in this group. I had to step back and admire #44 for a bit before I took this photo. This ebony on the neck is stunning and the fretwork is perfection. The crowns are cut to fit - laser precise - and fret ends over binding are the bomb - thank you Mike. Great touches. Exceptional work and classy from any angle.
Boomerang~Junkie Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 Heck, I almost forgot . . . . . CASE CANDY!
The Shark Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 There's been no better photographic expose in the Ultimate run. Fantastic!!!

These are all really nice photos, but I really would have liked to see a more perpendicular photo. It's difficult to see the relationship between the sustain block and the rest of the guitar when all the shots are at an extreme "burst" angle.
velorush Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 That is exceptional among the exceptional! The Sustain Block has got to be one of my favorite guitar appointments of all time and I am sure the character provided is great with the rest of the build.

ptm1diver Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Congrats, it's beautiful. Hard to wait for mine in July. Mike is great to work with. Enjoy in good health for many years. Paul. 0047
