kevinbower1959 Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Wonderful pics and a (nother) wonderful Ultimate, congrats We are indeed a lucky bunch.
Keytar Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Beautiful!! Love the Jazz Burst with matching headstock. The cup jack and string through is a great nod to telecasters. Nice touch.
cynic Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Absolutely beautiful and really like the SB and fret-over-binding. The locking tuners (at least the photo'd perspective) look a little like a hood ornament on a Ferrari, but otherwise it's a stunner.
Steve Haynie Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Just that first headstock shot was enough to make me just melt in awe!
a.bandini Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Absolutely beautiful! Congratulations, 44. We're like the agents in Get Smart.
Hamerica Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Congratulations and it is absolutely beautiful. Everything about these guitars scream craftsmanship beyond compare. They only thing that can top it? Your next Shishkov! Enjoy!
cmatthes Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I was skimming the Shishkov past threads tonight and just had to bump this one! I had almost forgotten the details, but was chatting with Scott and, well, I HAD to check it out again. Looks just as great here now as it did almost a year ago!
gorch Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Thanks for the bump to show up a sustain block gem.
BTMN Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Said it before and I will say it again, Sustain Blocks Rule!

The neck is fuller (but not too big) and exactly what I wanted. Color and finish is DEAD ON. I can't better articulate any new comments about the tone and playability that haven't already been said here by other members. This is as high a quality electric guitar as you will ever play - period. I doubt I'll ever out play this guitar. But I'm sure the heck going to make a run at it! Note: There are some dust and fingerprints that show up in my crappy photos, because the finish is literally like a damn mirror. I used the natural morning light outside, but these photos still do not do justice to the actual depth of the finish - the flame is amazing. Its hard to believe this is MY guitar. Yes, you smile every time you open the case. That is absolutely true. Matching headstock in TSB flamey goodness. The flame changes with the angle of viewing. This case is one of the nicest cases I ever seen, sturdy as can be and it fits the Ultimate like a glove. Classy touch there Mike! Sustain Block love . . . . . Flames that look five inches deep and change from every angle. Tuner perfection. No surprise, the back grain on the single slab of Hog is nuts too. That weird line on the right (upper bout) isn't in the wood, its a reflection of the case or something. Of course, all of the access panels, cuts and fitment are dead on. Look at the neck joint blend and burst - wow. That's the sun reflecting on the neck joint - not a camera flash. That's how smooth Mike has got the finish. Beautiful neck grain. Blessed to be here in this group. I had to step back and admire #44 for a bit before I took this photo. This ebony on the neck is stunning and the fretwork is perfection. The crowns are cut to fit - laser precise - and fret ends over binding are the bomb - thank you Mike. Great touches. Exceptional work and classy from any angle. Oh yeah I need to hit the lottery tonight!
Boomerang~Junkie Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 #0044 has "left the building" and is on its way to its new home. Honestly a very strange feeling, but I'm totally stoked to hear the review from a second set of hands and ears. Glen has been duly warned up front - that #0044 is going to ruin him for all his other guitars! Mike - your work is truly amazing. Thank you for pouring your heart and soul into crafting that masterpiece.
