THTCoop,

Thanks for sharing the images and the backstory. Great pics and info on that one. I had heard about it, but never seen pics until now.

Very cool bass and killer finish-would love to re-unite these two brothers. At least lets get them together and get alittle "Gonna Raise Hell" going...... :D:D

What pickups are those in the bass? I remember seeing some bases that had what looked to be X2N style pickups in them.

Looks like an original Thunderbird p/u (1960's) in the bridge and the trim ring from an original Thunderbird p/u in the neck.

The neck p/u looks like a wider Dimarzio X2NB or maybe one made by Bill Lawrence.

The neck position pickup, I think, is a Thunderbird without the cover. I believe it was built that way. I'll try to post the picture of Tom, from the first Hamer brochure. Rockford guitar slinger, Tim Roe told me there was a matching standard guitar. And there it is! Too cool! Thanks for posting, Peter!

I think Peter's Greenburst Standard is from '80 or '81.

I've got a pic around somewhere of Paul Hamer holding a greenburst Standard bass from the very, VERY early days.

Here you go THTCoop. Can't tell from my fuzzy pic if the scratch guard was on there at that point, but everything else looks the same!!

Sweet plank you have there. If you don't work something out with Tom P., let me know

Thanks again for sharing.

A great pic right there! What year is that?

Super cool bass too. I especially love that you are PLAYING this bass and not treating it as a museum piece. Welcome to the forum.

It's been rumored that those 60s Thunderbird pickups were born from leftover 8-string lap steel pickup parts/tooling.

Neat seeing your bass was without the neck pickup can from day one! (re: that brochure pic)

Actually, that's not Tom Petersson in the original catalog pictured with that Standard bass. I'm trying to remember who it is - Paul Hamer mentioned it a few years ago.

Very cool!! Let me see what I can dig up. I have a pic of the greenburst #0003 Standard Bass. This was one rumored to exist (I'd heard of the catalog bass w/o logo being greenburst, but not much more info on it).

0003 - I don't know what the writing on the headstock says.

That was the 'Martin Turner Model' iirc. Tom's greenburst w/o logo was the one in the catalog posed with a friend of Paul and Jol's and was one of those built after #0001 (I've seen a natural Explorer as well that is the same as Rick's #0000).

So we have:

Rick N: #0000 Prototype given to him for waiting so long for his #0004 to be built.

Martin Turner: #0001 First official 4-digit Hamer (Bass)

Martin Barre: #0002 Standard

Tom P: No # Greenburst Standard Bass

Rick N: No # burst Standard

Rick N: #0004 Standard the one he was waiting for.
