Here it is, the original Hamer Standard bass, ordered by Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick. It is pictured being played by Tom, on the first Hamer leaflet/brochure. Original except for tuners. With the original Hamer flight case, too! Purchased in Urbana IL at Ax In Hand over 35 years ago. You can hear this bass on the new Three Hour Tour album, Action And Heroes. It is especially prominent on the song "Room With A View". It is not for sale. Thoughts on insured value? Thanks!!

LOVE THT!

Welcome aboard.

That would be a really difficult one to price, as it is such an early example. Low #000X serial numbers will easily be in the low to mid 5 figures...

Holy #$#@! :) Thanks for sharing photos of it!

Love the 60s Thunderbird pickups and bridge. Head resembles the Martin Turner bass too... Does this one have a s/n?

Also curious - is this one a short-scale? (judging by bridge placement)

No serial number. Pre production, custom ordered by Tom. In the Illustrated history book, it mentions that the third Hamer ever made (I think it was #002) was a green sunburst bass that was ordered by a customer that had seen, or heard about Tom's green-burst Standard bass. I did share a picture with Jol Dantzig and he was pretty exited to see her. Also, Tom is very interested in it. He is the ONLY person I would sell her to. He would like to do a trade with me, with one of his old T-Birds. Thinking, due to the history of the bass....not at much as the fact that it was Tom's, but that it is essentially the first Hamer Standard bass, I'm gonna need some boot!

And now, this is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer owned bass! I've been a Hamer fan since I was 15, 1975, when I saw the Ultimate, ad in Guitar Player.

Inner circle, the bass is a long-scale.

Steve, what is the set standing offer? B)

Well, THTCoop, just like stocks are worth no more than what they trade for at the moment you sell them, Hamers are worth no more than what someone will pay on the day you want to sell one.

So, if you ever want to sell a USA made Hamer in good playing condition or better the standing offer here is $350. You can sell your bass at any time for that money, and you will have your money right then and there.

Just do a search for "$350" and see what comes up.

Ah- I see now that the neck on that one isn't set in as deeply as some of the other Standard basses.

Any chance you have a photo of the backside that you'd be willing the share? This is too cool.

Good luck with the possible sale or trade.

Oh and... $352?

Easy guys.

HE VERY CLEARLY STATED THAT THE BASS IS NOT FOR SALE.

Whoa. That bass is something else! if only it was blue, it would be that much more awesome.

But yeah! looks great!

As for price, that's something only you can come up with. You've had it for a long time now.

In the spirit of "no bidding" I would like to also offer $350 which makes it more like a ridiculous lottery. Oh, cool bass.

Do I outpace everyone calling DIBS right here right now? :D

Seriously, it is very nice to see the bass in good hands. There was a Richie Sambora owned 4 digit Standard announced for about $20k on Ebay years ago. Dunno if it had been sold for that price, but I would figure this one in the 5 digits for a serious offer.

I hope the bass had been played over the years. Any more you can give to the story?

I do use it. I just had the neck pickup rewound. I used it on the new Three Hour Tour album, Action And Heroes. Pardon the plug. Recorded direct, through a Universal Audio solo 610.

It plays great I love the thin neck. Very stable, nice tone and great sustain. I will post a few more pictures when I get back from Nashville.

Fixed :) You "plug" about as good as the Professor and the Skipper.
