Oh wow!!!!  That got my attention!!!

I love the way the flame changes over the carving. Exceptional. Hands down the prettiest super strat shape ever. 👍🏻

Those curves get me all hot and bothered.

And I wasn't even looking for that ...

Ah, I can't wait for the semi - solid (semi - hollow) goodness.

A good weekend to everyone!

Cheers,

Tobias

This isnt lost on me. I have some pretty special guitars, and they all have memories attached to them and a story to tell, but nothing is comparing to the Super C.

Mike has made me feel very involved in the process, his design ideas, drawings, any advantages or pitfalls in any particular choices along the way - trust me he has guided me well more than once - and has sent many more updates than I share on here.

If it plays ands sounds anywhere near how I expect it to I'll be over the moon.

I do feel lucky.

/\ This.

Mike doesn't just build guitars for people. Mike treats you like a friend who's portrait he's painting.

It's been a busy couple of weeks (for Mike) for a number of reasons with Super C.

The carved body pictured a few posts up developed an anomaly.  Not really an anomaly - it's nature after all - but when Mike started the belly cut he noticed a knot.  These normally disappear the deeper you go.  This one didn't.  It grew.  Mike phoned and explained it to me and said he was of the mind that he'd start another body with the remaining slab from the same tree. I was 50/50 and said I'd think about it over night as the knot was on the back anyway.

Fast forward a night and Mike had started Take 2 body which we both agreed looked even better than the first.  Take 2 is the Nov 7th picture above.

Then I had another update.  Nature bit back.  This time hard.  Take 2 body cracked...   Mike and I talked about "what next?" on Friday night.  Mike's such a cool calm guy and apologizing for the delays (not necessary AT ALL) he said he had some very promising bits of wood and would send me some pictures over the weekend.

Last night I received a gargantuan update that initially left me floored.  Mike's been working flat out on this and it shows.  Take 3 is the best.  And then some.

I'll release a series of (Take 3) Super C pictures over the next few days in order.

Where is this terrible knot??

BTW: Mike's pursuit of perfection is truly appreciated by this customer.
When he was building Ultimate 0009 for me, he called me to tell me that as he was pre-finish sanding the body, he saw some imperfections on the body's side and back.
He asked me if I wanted to maybe spray the body a cherry, like on a Les Paul, or a solid color, or even a different body altogether. "Anything you want," he told me.
Being a very reasonable person (No, I really am!), I said, "Well, why don't you send me a couple of pix and we'll see what we have."
He did, and here they are...

Suffice it to say, that is the body we went with.
I told him, "As long as you continue to make guitars out of wood, Mike, we're going to se that from time to time. It looks beautiful to me."

Sorry for the thread derail, but the point it Mike wants you to love your instrument. No matter what it takes.

Do you know what?  If I received the guitar WITH the knot I would have still been happy.  Like you said Mike is very special with his customer satisfaction.  He started on body 2 while I was still thinking about keeping body 1, sent me pictures saying he'd prefer to run with another body, and completely removed any potential awkwardness.  That's how good he is.  It means a lot to me to be honest.  It's an awesome journey.

It's wood - 'imperfections' are natural and unique.  I love 'em.

I'm both happy and proud to announce I'm forming the line for any potential Shishkov factory seconds.

Mike's keeping V1 body as a prototype.
